Daily Inspiration: Meet Christina Cohn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Cohn.

Hi Christina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I took a pottery class in the ’90s and then revisited it at Belmont University in 2011. I took six semesters and have never looked back.

I started as a wheel thrower and now, I’m a hand builder using slab pinch and coil techniques to create one-of-a-kind organically shaped pieces.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For me, the struggles and failures in my craft are what makes me strive to be better. I’m not afraid to be in the beginner’s mind and try a new clay body or a new glaze. The struggles keep me interested and motivated.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a line of handmade dinnerware that I make in my home studio. I love creating custom sets for my customers and having people in the studio pick out a serving piece or a platter for their home or as a gift.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I never thought about that I’m not sure I have had particularly bad luck or good luck!
