Today we’d like to introduce you to Claude Davis.
Hi Claude, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Incorporated Miracle in Motion in 2002 in Kentucky. Started with outdoor music show Friday and Saturday night, and Church on Sunday. 12 years we did that. Returned to Nashville, kept the ministry going on line and with personal appearances.
Now, we put on fundraisers for causes that may be dear to my heart. Through it all, 2 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Refused radiation, refused chemo. Told God if this is the way you are taking me out, I’ll go out praising you. While in hospital, able to minister to others. Now, I am completely cancer free. I dropped down from 220 lbs to 138 . Now we are back to 220! Thanks to prayers from all over the World. Dddae.Oh, did I mention..I am a100% disabled Vietnam veteran, having served in the Marine Corps.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anything but smooth. Cancer, 3 bouts with pneumonia, PTSD, drug abuse and alcohol abuse (almost 30 years clean) multiple marriages, death of stepson, Dad, mom, my brother, and even suicide attempt. Lost everything we had in the flood of 2010 in Nashville. Home completely under water for 3 days. But through all that, my faith remained strong, and even grew stronger. During all this time, I was still recording music.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My faith becomes evident right away. My generosity to help others, even when we do without ourselves. Had a family drive 8 hours so I could baptize them, in Old Hickory Lake. I am a “prayer warrior” I am not ” religious ” but very Spirtual. Have worked with teens at risk. Oh yes, earned a Bachelor Degree in psychology from Tennessee State university. A 4 year degree finished in less than 3 years, while singing and working full time.
Now we have moved to producing others, and helping other causes deemed necessary.
I am the Founder and C.E.O. of Miracle in Motion.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
We were poor. But we didn’t know we were poor until we moved to where people had money. Dad and grandfather were Coal Miners in SE Kentucky. Parents were strict. Today would be called abusive. Music has always been a part of my life. Family quartet when mom was still holding me in her arms. The mines shut down in early 60’s. We moved to Indiana. There I saw my first kid that had more than 1 pair of shoes, and I wasn’t allowed to go barefoot to school. I was bullied a lot. Cut my 1st record when I was 15, with a gospel group. Joined the Marine Corps when I was 17.
