Today we’d like to introduce you to Cooper “MixedBySchnoop” Reynolds
Hi Cooper, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sure, I’d love to walk you through the journey. I started Flow Industries from a really humble place—back in my mom’s attic, actually. I first got into music at a high school leadership conference in my freshman year of high school. A guy who I will never forget, King EDO, told me about DAWs and how I could get a free program, LMMS, which I went home and downloaded that day. I sat on my computer for HOURS on end learning and self-teaching through experimenting with my own voice and beats.
At the time, I had almost no budget, just some VERY basic gear, and a ton of drive and self-belief. I was extremely lucky to be around people who were as passionate about music as I was growing up. So, I got my feet wet there, learning from other artists and producers around Portland, particularly in Beaverton, where I worked with friends in any space we could use (usually somebody’s house and bedroom studio).
After a couple of years, I decided to go all-in on my education and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Music Production with a minor in Entrepreneurship at Oregon State University, honoring a promise I made to my parents. Those four years in Corvallis were pivotal. I met my founding partners, Sage Jarvie and Griffin Barbieri, in production and theory classes. They were constantly putting in the extra hours, sharing their insights, and helping others build on their visions, which is exactly the collaborative, open vibe I wanted for Flow. It became clear these were the people I could trust to help me build something real.
Later, I met our videographer, Jari Suchaneck, during a part-time job in school, where we coordinated projects like clothing printing and athlete photoshoots. Jari’s passion for capturing life through his lens and keeping things simple just clicked with my vision. I brought him into Flow, and we figured out how to combine our skills to push this dream further.
I went through days and days of research trying to align a location for the values I envisioned my company to posses and I ended up deciding with my partners on Nashville. The beloved Music City became our home base, and I was the first to set up shop here, followed soon by Griffin, Jari, and then Sage. I feel incredibly grateful to have had them by my side, turning this vision into a reality. It’s been a journey fueled by hard work, creativity, and a genuine commitment to supporting artists in a way that feels authentic, and I’m excited to see where we take it next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Nah man, not at all—it’s been anything but. Flow Industries started in my mom’s attic, where my closest friends and I would spend hours making music together. Some of it turned out surprisingly good for how early I was in the game, but man, there were definitely some rough moments. There were tracks so off that if my friends didn’t laugh with me, I would’ve wondered if they were actually my friends! That mix of creativity and humor with them always believing in me and pushing me forward kept me insanely motivated and helped me improve every step of the way.
When I moved to Corvallis for college, things kicked up a notch. I was balancing 16+ credit hours per term, working part-time at a print shop during the day, and spending my nights in the school studio as the head engineer and tech assistant. It was a daily grind waking up going to the gym at 5 a.m. and then working until 10 p.m., or sometimes straight into the early hours of the morning, making sure each project met my standards and pushing myself as a producer and audio engineer. There were many sleepless nights, days where I didn’t want to get of bed, you know, the usual.
Through all that, the head of our music department, Jason Fick, was a huge influence. He saw my determination to grow into the music mogul I wanted to be and never hesitated to be real with me. Whether it was tough love, asking the hard questions I didn’t want to answer, or just straight-up crushing an ‘amazing’ idea I’d come up with because I didn’t know something yet—Jason always kept it honest. I never took it personally, though. I saw it for what it was: solid guidance from someone who knew the field and was pushing me to get where I wanted to go. His time, energy, and honesty were something I will always be incredibly grateful for and likely won’t ever be able to repay.
From there, things started to pick up, though it wasn’t just about making money. I’d often do projects for free or at a huge discount, knowing that this industry is all about who you know. Working with artists who could open doors for me allowed me to grow my network, and eventually, I even landed brand deals with vintage and streetwear brands, which was huge for marketing my personal brand “MixedBySchnoop”, which in turn, grew Flow. Each struggle along the way taught me something, and ultimately, those challenges helped me build a strong foundation in Nashville. The ups and downs made Flow Industries what it is today—a studio with a deep understanding of the hustle and a dedication to helping artists find their sound.”
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Flow Industries, our main goal is to act as a record label without being your record label. I believe every artist should own their masters, keeping full control of their work and creative direction. My role is to bring an artist’s vision to its fullest potential—nobody can tell your story better than you, and we’re here to support, not steer, that story.
At Flow, we give you all the tools and services you need to market your next single, mixtape, EP, or album, exactly as you envision. Need recording time? Let’s get in the studio and make some magic. Looking for mixing and mastering to polish your tracks? That’s what we do. Want a live performance video for a single you’ve already created? We’ll record you and track your live vocal, creating a performance that truly captures your sound. Need a music video that matches your song’s vibe? We have the team and resources to bring it to life. Want to do an interview to build hype around your upcoming project? Sit down with us, and we’ll capture a clean, engaging interview ready for media.
We also cover the finer details, like cover art—our in-house designers are experts in Photoshop, Illustrator, and the rest, so your visuals are on par with your music. And if you book more than one service, we offer packages to keep marketing costs manageable, plus guidance on rollout strategies we’ve learned from working with a range of artists.
Ultimately, what sets Flow apart is that we’re all about the artist’s journey—supporting your growth, amplifying your voice, and giving you the freedom to create without compromise.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Yeah, I’d say to any artist out there—don’t settle for anything less than the vision you have for yourself. In this industry, people will tell you how things ‘should’ be done or what’s ‘best’ for your career, but at the end of the day, no one knows your story like you do. Your sound, your image, your message—those are all things only you can define.
At Flow, we’re here to provide the tools, the guidance, and the creative space to make that vision a reality without you ever needing to give up control. We’ll help you get there, but you’ll always be in the driver’s seat. Keep believing in yourself, keep pushing boundaries, and stay true to your art. If you’re ready to make something great, let’s make it happen together.
