Daily Inspiration: Meet Danielle Beinstein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Beinstein.

Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey has been circuitous and most unexpected. I never set out to be a Psychological Astrologer. I grew up in New York City, a voracious reader, and avid theatre and filmgoer. In college, I thought I would maybe get a Ph.D. in Humanities, or possibly go to Divinity or even Law School. I’ve always been a student of social history and the arts, but I began exploring spirituality in earnest at 19, during a summer in San Francisco where I began my astrology studies. I never ever thought I would make a career out of it. Instead, trying to find my place, I bumped around different media, Hollywood, and tech outlets. At 29, after about 4 years in LA, I leapt into the unknown and enrolled in a Master’s Program in Spiritual Psychology. That program changed my life. I took a solid 3 years to do deep inner work. I wasn’t on social media. I didn’t travel. The stillness forced a great deal of self-awareness. I then apprenticed for a couple of years and began co-leading New and Full Moon Circles with one of my best friends, Paula Mallis, in Venice, California, and teaching meditation at Unplug Meditation. That led me to where I am today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The career challenges I’ve faced have largely been internal. I battled myself often. Should I go to Law School? Should I pursue a career as a screenwriter or producer? Should I pursue journalism or work at a magazine? Get a more traditional MA in Psychology? Should I, Should I, Should I? I have such a vast array of interests, but astrology always tugged at me. I needed to let a lot of judgment go in order to really allow my path to reveal itself. And then, in my mid-30s, I realized that I could integrate so many of my pursuits. Once I committed to astrology, everything seemed to flow.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a Pyschological Astrologer. I work with clients, both one on one and in groups, using a combination of Psychology, Spiritual Counseling, and Astrology. My approach is incredibly grounded. I’m a voracious reader, of literature, non-fiction, current and historical materials, and a frequent traveler. I think my endless curiosity has given me a unique perspective and also openness. Even before the pandemic, I was working a lot over Zoom, since my clients are global. But I, and am sure many others, are missing the in-person experience. I hope to integrate more and more of that, beginning with the first-weekend retreat at my house, scheduled for mid-May,

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
That’s a great question. Astrology is incredibly popular right now, especially on social media. I’m not sure how long the trend will continue, but I do believe the need for more soulful inner work is eternal. We’re so externally focused in our culture – things feel out of balance. I do think more and more people will be drawn to a more mystical exploration.
