Daily Inspiration: Meet Darrell Craig Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darrell Craig Harris.

Hi Darrell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a long-time pro musician starting on the streets of Hollywood in the early 80s, I am currently based in Las Vegas. I have toured with several name artists including. Gary Puckett, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, and I was long-time bassist with Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas and Tokyo.

Recently during the Covid lockdown, I started an online cooperation with an artist from Finland by the name of Charlotta Kerbs, she’s a well-known singer-songwriter based in Lepplax Finland. After working up several songs together, we decided to come to Muscle Shoals to record our debut album at the legendary FAME recording studios. That album is called project is named Charlotta and The Strays “Muscle Shoals Sessions” that’s what brought us to Nashville in mid-December where we spent three days getting to know the city and exploring history.

While in Nashville, we checked out lower Broadway and its amazing sights and sounds, including the historic Ryman Auditorium home of the original Grand Ole  Opry. I have been to Nashville personally before, for our Finnish singer Charlotta, it was her first time in the city. We had such a great time taking in the atmosphere and vibe of lower Broadway and the city, it was very busy and exciting for my Finnish partner!

We also had the opportunity to go to the new “Grand Ole Opry” and see a great show with Artists Joss Stone, Ricky Skaggs, and several more of the Opry greats!

Our Charlotta Kerbs and The Strays project has since signed a record deal in Scandinavia with Ramasound Records, we look forward to releasing our “Muscle Shoals Sessions” album this March 2023.

We love the vibe in Tennessee, it’s one of the most beautiful states in the USA. Nashville is a gem with amazing people, awesome food, and that southern relaxed vibe! Love it!

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Well, yes life as a musician can sometimes be challenging for sure! One funny/odd thing that happened to us while we were in Nashville, was that while attending the new Grand Ole Opry someone actually stole our rental car. So that was a surprise of course, but we got a new car and headed on down to Muscle Shoals the next morning. That was an interesting experience, the Nashville police were very nice!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I’m a long-time pro bassist, songwriter, and producer, but I am also a Getty Images Contributor and I’m a Sports Illustrated photographer currently assigned to the Las Vegas Raiders football team. My photography career started while I was playing bass in Tokyo with Cirque Du Soleil, I loved walking around that city with my camera and shooting with local models. Eventually, Getty Images scouted me on one of the large photo sharing websites.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
