Daily Inspiration: Meet Dave Fowler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Fowler.

Hi Dave, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story actually starts with my mother. At the age of 13 she was shot at close range by a 5 year old boy playing with a shotgun in the mountains of Western North Carolina. She was over 30 miles from a hospital .. it was 2-3 hours before she could get any medical attention. She lost so much blood she was not suppose to live, but she did and I still have her today she is 85 years old. So she is a walking miracle and for that matter so am I. I came to Nashville in the mid 80s to pursue a career in the music business as a professional bass guitar player. I’m originally from Asheville, North Carolina a beautiful place to grow up but very limited for a Professional Musician.. I was very fortunate when I came here. I was hired by an artist named Helen Cornelius and she was on tour with the Statler Brothers in the mid 80s and they were on fire during this time. I came right out of playing nightclubs to playing performing arts centers and small arenas all over America. It was a dream come true for me and that’s how I got started in this business. Many years later I have worked with many music artists.
Which include Lorrie Morgan, Collin Raye John Michael Montgomery, Dolly Parton, Billy Bob Thornton Sawyer Brown and many others. I have been very blessed through my career.! This happened with a little luck, determination, a great deal of hard work, a good networking sense and applying myself.
I don’t know that I had a solid plan or a clear path. I simply came here and with the Lord’s help it happened!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s not going to be smooth anytime you pursue a career as unstable as the music business. I don’t think people understand when you become a professional touring musician and you are dedicated to it, You sacrifice a lot, you miss holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and hopefully your family is very understanding. There’s nothing smooth about this business. When I was 25 years old I was married, no children and working quite a bit, then out of nowhere my marriage ended. My car got repossessed, and I was evicted from my apartment. This all happened to me in a matter of about 60 days!
There’s no question it built strong character in me and It forced me to get through the hardest time in my life. It developed who I am today.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have a partnership with my longtime friend Kent Wells, who has been Dolly Parton’s record producer for 24 years and counting. we do custom recording projects and Songwriter demos. We are always looking for the next breakthrough artist. We work with everyone on every budget and do our best to remain within reason where costs are concerned. Our quality of work is very hard to beat, if anyone is interested in recording with us they can reach out through my email [email protected].
I feel what sets us apart is we genuinely care about our artists/clients and we always go the extra mile to ensure their recording project is the absolute best we can deliver. We never skimp on our clients projects and we have many testimonials!

What makes you happy?
Spector and Vintage Fender bass guitars, Harley Davidson motorcycles make me happy because bass guitars and motorcycles have been a huge part of who I am for many years, But I would have to say without question the PEACE that I have in my heart because of my relationship with GOD is the number one thing that makes me happiest there is no replacing having peace in your life.
**When you have tried everything and still have emptiness .. I would strongly recommend you give it a chance!**
