Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Tsimba.
Dave , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Dave Tsimba.
Born in Nancy, France in a rough neighborhood to a congolese family and I live in America.
I am a multilingual music artist. I would say mainly hip hop but I don’t exactly like to box myself in. As an artist who has always loved music, putting the work behind the passion has been a difference maker. I play drums, piano and i’m my own engineer when it comes to mixes and masters.
I got really started back in college when it came to music but didn’t really take it seriously until mid 2020-2021.
I didn’t start seeing real progress until later on and 2024-2025 were hard times filled with much loss in my life so I didn’t really get a chance to showcase progress but as someone who built their own studio and has over 1700 notes saved, I’m bound to create something that hopefully someone can relate to or vibe to.
I’m here to create and I hope what I create can touch the souls of many. regardless of the outcome, being able to do this is already a blessing. Each day I’m alive I get another chance to go at it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a very tough road.
Never grew up with any real financial structure nor the knowledge to be able to get myself into music.
My music is mainly based on my life. There are subjects I don’t speak much on but I’m as vulnerable as ever when it’s me and the microphone.
I’ve lsot a lot of people to death in many ways along the road.
2025 I lost my girl to cancer and I keep in mind everyday that since she doesn’t have another chance to make a dream come true, then nothing should stop me from hoping someone hears this message.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My writing style is very weird and. unorthodox.
Many songs of mine aren’t written until I listen back.
Some have been written backwards or i’d write it without the beat and then either go find it or create it with Adrian.
I have many people to thank when it comes to my creativity.
Henry and I shoot weddings or videos, so it’s help me understand what I look like in front of a camera or even to understand the perspective of what’s in front of the camera more so.
Qualls, Byron, Delo, Kelby, Shemar, Dev, Jugo, Baptistin, Adrian, Laylow, and so many others have always been able to give me great insight and or feedback or helped out on projects in the past and hopefully the future.
I think a few things that set me apart, aside from my actual full name being highly unique in it’s entirety, after countless hours of working on flow and understanding so many different genres and cultures, I can and will hop on any beat. A challenge is a challenge and that’s fine but to go from being able to do UK/NY drill in french english and spanish to a house vibe that takes over the room. To rapping the deepest lyrics on a song to singing a beautiful RNB song or to go from afro pop to latin music and still deliver is something not many artists possess. To switch flows seamlessly and to find a pocket where pockets don’t exist is my specialty.
I respect the laws and foundations of music and modern music in general but I do not care if a hook is supposed to start 4 to 8 bars later or for a pre hook or for where the verse is, none of that matters when all you want to do is make good music. If it sounds good, and you clearly have confirmation that it’s headed in the right direction, take a chance on it.
Music has rules and I love bending the rules. It makes for the most inspiring work. Most of my songs are either written under 25-30 mins or off the dome and I go from there. The vibe is the most important part.
People have a lot of opinions on what you’re not supposed to do in your creative space….well…it’s your creative space, have fun and make something dope.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am a very persistent person. I grew up playing sports my whole life and got a chance to take it to the next level.
Anything is possible.
I’ve seen it.
If you can bring a family of four to America with nothing to your name and hope it works out while stressing about every other problem and working on top of that, I think you can keep your head up when life gets tough.
