Daily Inspiration: Meet David Dove

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Dove.

Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started playing music at a young age, I was lucky enough to have a musical household growing up! I started playing piano around 9, trumpet, and electric bass in middle school but bass really started to feel like home to me as I started to play music outside of school. Truth be told I never thought I would do music full time as a career, I thought it was impossible since I was born in small-town Springfield, MO so I never gave it much thought until facing college… what do I major in? What am I supposed to do with my life? Slowly but surely those questions were answered… I found myself playing worship conferences with CRU, going on my first real tour with “Earth Groans,” picking up musical theatre work, local jazz gigs, studying at Missouri State University, getting my first Nashville artist gigs with Liz Moriondo and Jason Pritchett and later on AJ McClean of the Backstreet Boys. Fast forward to now I knew I wanted to take myself to Music City to meet new people, have new opportunities, and most of all learn/grow myself.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I feel that it’s a very interesting road to travel… unlike having say a typical job, you have to learn how to wear many different hats. I’m always learning something new about the Self-Employed Musician livelihood! It’s not always the easiest but for me the calling/passion whatever you might call it outweighs the negative.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a musician/bassist primarily! I play electric bass, upright, synth bass for artists ranging from country, rock, R&B, jazz, worship, musicals, studio, etc.

One thing I enjoy doing is being a part of a team that wants to do the absolute best possible job. Some of my work has included arranging songs or live show performances, rehearsing bands, and tour managing.

I’m so happy when the musical experience transcends the band into the entire audience; you feel something special/unique and when someone at the end of the show comes up and talks about how they needed this night to lift their spirit or to even have some fun and forget the worries of the world; I know it is all worth it. I want my life and music to make a difference

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Lastly, I would add to never give up on your dreams. I believe you are here for a reason and we need that to make the world a better place!

A lot of people have helped me out along the way, if I can ever do that for someone else, I’d gladly do so
