Daily Inspiration: Meet David Pachter

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Pachter.

Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my career without any real goals or a vision of what I wanted to do. It took me a few years to realize without having both it’s difficult to achieve anything. I spent a few years in my early 20s managing a band and producing an unheralded feature film in Los Angeles and then found myself in search of a job where my own efforts would be the driver of my success. That decision led me to take an entry-level sales job. On the subsequent journey, I discovered a few principles that allowed me to jump into roles with increasing responsibility and rewards. 20 years later, I co-founded JumpCrew, a Nashville-based company that outsources sales and marketing teams for many well-known technology, media, and healthcare companies.

I’ve been fortunate to work with many people who share my aspiration, drive, and values. At JumpCrew, I’ve enjoyed watching the team grow, learn and execute beyond where my own expertise could take them. They are using data and technology to drive leads and close deals for both recently funded start-ups and billion-dollar public companies.

Today, my role as Executive Chairman is oddly very similar to the one I had as an SDR 20 years ago – I share information with my clients, prospects, partners, and investors and grow those relationships based on trust. The last few years have been very transformative for me and for our business and I wrote a book about it called Remote Leadership: How to Accelerate Achievement and Create a Community in a Work-from-Home World.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not been smooth.

I graduated college with no good job prospects and at 27, I was still looking for entry-level jobs. I then spent a few years selling temp staffing to law firm office managers (cold calls and dropping off candies) before finding a great niche in sales and management that let me grow, learn and start leveling up.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Over the last few years, I have focused on Coaching and working with JumpCrew’s Learning and Development team.

L&D is such an important part of what an organization can contribute to its community and an individual’s success.

I’m really proud of the work we do with people starting new roles. I wish I had access to a program like it when I needed it. We are committed to building a coaching culture that blends access to both one on one and peer groups.

Our concept is built around “reflective leadership”, experience sharing, and asking better questions.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
When you earn and build people’s trust, you’re capable of achieving more than you can imagine achieving by yourself.
