Today we’d like to introduce you to Debria Love.
Hi Debria, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started July 27th, 1998, when I was born to my parents Misha and Gary. My dad always loved school and leadership and my mother was the city’s celebrity hosting events and showing off her killer smile, personality, and legs. They gave birth to a perfect mixture of the two me. Well, who am I?
I am Debria the model, and the creative director, the poem and the poet. I am the news and I am reporting it. A journalist is changing the world one conversation at a time. I combined the wit and charisma of my mother mixed with the smarts and marketing skills of my dad to birth Debria, the Conversationalist! I host engaging conversations on my IG story every Tuesday. Follow me DebriaLove_.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I realized it’s all in my mind. The struggle. Perspective is everything. So if you look at struggle or an obstacle as defeat instead of an opportunity to level up and learn a new life skill, then it can be a long road, but when you look for the lessons and enjoy the adventure of life, you realize no road is smooth. Every road has a rock out place that can cause some bumps in the road.
The biggest challenge that I’m overcoming is the negative chatter in my mind which leads to procrastination and insecurity when it comes to creating. Breaking down those thoughts when they come and ask myself why do I think that? Is it true? Is this my own thoughts about myself or someone else’s?
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a creative director and model. So not only do I model other people’s brands, but I create concepts of marketing content for brands, for example, photoshoots, video shoots, and content creation. I worked with Anthony Ferrel, Keniece Walker, and Giabani.
I love to host events and to connect with new people. I’ve been hosting events in Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Atlanta since I was 16 years old. I even might spit a poem or two. I’ve hosted the last two Creative Days of Nashville, chuck Indigo Cafe showcase, Nashville Beat Battle, MTSU black history fashion, and many more. So if you need a poet, personality, model, creative director, or all four, dm me on IG DebriaLove_.
How do you think about happiness?
I prefer joy! And realizing my purpose has given me joy and understanding that all I have to do is be and walking in my calling brings fullness to my life.
