Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Hansen.
Hi Desiree, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I graduated from school in Florida in 2003 and moved up and down the East Coast. In 2014, I met my partner and now husband, Scott in Virginia Beach. Work brought us to Atlanta where we have been since.
I’ve spent every year since my arrival working in the reality and scripted world. That is, until June 28th, I experienced back-to-back grand seizures resulting in a hospital trip and emergency brain surgery. I was diagnosed with stage three brain cancer and I spent the majority of covid at home. The following year, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.
Two years of chemo and radiation were difficult on my body. But still, I try to keep up my career. My husband and I treat our film business together and work very hard to take care of our employees. We are also massive cat people.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Known for high-end musical writing on videos.
Wrote and directed Bad Candy with my partner. Own a 25k studio with crew. We care about our people.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I had to sign a paper that said I had a 50/50 chance of waking up from my procedure.
I spent more time on the phone with my lawyer than with my family. That’s about as risky as it gets I suppose. Unless you count my love of a good cheeseburger.
