Daily Inspiration: Meet Eddy Echo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddy Echo.

Eddy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m an artist, producer, entrepreneur, and runner based in Nashville. Originally from Philadelphia and lived in NYC for 5 years. I began losing my eyesight to Stargardt’s Disease at the age of 13 and am legally blind. I began playing music at a young age. My grandmother was a professional organist. I’ve been in Nashville for 7 years and have worked with 250 artists as a producer out of my studio downtown near printers alley. I also self produce my own music and perform around the country.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No not at all. My eye disease is progressive and I’ve struggled with the changes over time. I run with Achillies International where they pair me up with guides to run marathons.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I play piano, guitar, bass, drums and sing. I run a business called Nash Sessions which offers tiny desk style music videos at an affordable price. I also host a podcast called “The Eddy Echo Show” where I interview local artists.

What are your plans for the future?
I aim to combine my interests in mystic and running creating a community combining the two. I plan on making an album this year designed to hype typo runners for a half marathon. It will feature spoken work segments from the people at Achillies which is an organization providing opportunities for athletes with disabilities.
