Daily Inspiration: Meet Ella Kuban

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ella Kuban.

Hi Ella, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been a creative person, and ever since I was a child I wanted to be a designer. My start with floristry really began when my sister, Olivia, was planning her wedding and asked me to arrange flowers for her reception.

I really loved it, and soon after I decided to enroll in the Nashville Flower Market’s School of Floral Design. After completing flower school, I went all-in and started Frances and Jane Floral Design with Olivia!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a small business always comes with its challenges (hello taxes!), and we didn’t expect it to be easy. Thankfully, Olivia and I had realistic expectations coupled with big goals, so we’ve been taking it all in stride and learning something new literally every day!

I would say the biggest challenge that we’re now coming out of is educating our potential clients well. At first, we were using our Instagram as more of a mini portfolio, and now we are really focused on explaining all things florals.

From pricing and design ideas to which floral items to highlight, we try to cover it all!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are florists that specialize in garden-inspired, romantic floral designs for Nashville-area weddings, events, and deliveries.

We are proud of the way we educate and guide our clients as well as how we are transparent with our pricing.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
We’re born and raised in Nashville, so it’s been amazing to see the growth and change!

There are so many kinds, hard-working, and talented vendors in Nashville, and being able to work alongside them is amazing.

The worst part about Nashville is all of the rain and the endless potholes- especially when we’re trying to carefully transport our floral arrangements!
