Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Elise Enyinda.
Hi Erin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I have been in the media world for over a decade, doing many different facets of it. However, my love for magazines, photography, and fashion began in childhood. Overall, I was a very creative and introverted child. I studied media in my spare time after school by recording radio talk shows and TV shows and reading magazines and books daily. I wanted to know how people did what they did (radio, television, magazines) and developed a fascination that became an obsession. I couldn’t shake the feeling that it was a part of my path.
In my twenties, I freelanced for up-and-coming websites that covered local artists or events in California and the East Coast. There were several years I gave media a break and focused on building myself because I wanted to know who I was outside of writing about others, and I would say that it was one of the best decisions I ever made. It helped me focus on my giftings and what brought me joy. In my current life, by day, I am a photojournalist for a newspaper, and by evening I’m a magazine editor. So I guess it is safe to say that it’s been a process to get to where I am, and I appreciate the path that I’m on.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! Lol. As creatives and entrepreneurs, we often feel our path doesn’t make sense compared to other career fields and that the payoff takes longer, and that alone can make you question if it is worth it. At least, that has been my experience. But what would the world be without those who blaze the trail of creativity and are innovative?
Patience and avoiding burnout have been some of the most prominent struggles. I have had to learn to be patient with the process, work hard, and allow things to come to me in their own time. I also prioritize my rest and well-being so much more.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the Editor in Chief of Live Affirmed Magazine. Live Affirmed Magazine was created to help women to live a life empowered in every area and to celebrate who they are in every aspect. This magazine is my pride and joy because it is a fusion of all my passions.
You have my love for photography, writing, telling others’ stories, and women’s empowerment all wrapped into one. I would say I am just creating what I wanted to see growing up, and I hope to inspire other women to live a life that celebrates who they were created to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is, firstly, my relationship with God. We did been through a whole lot together and my life has changed drastically since I came into a real relationship with him.
Next would be my husband and family and all the art I create! I love music, food, fashion, and laughter. These things are my nucleus and I get great joy in thinking about them.
