Daily Inspiration: Meet Gracie Grace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gracie Grace

Hi Gracie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Gracie Grace & All the Goodboys is a South Shore made band. The group started out as a way to make performing live music as a part of a full band a collaborative experience that allowed for the ever changing tides of musicians lives. What it turned into was series of meaningful friendships that would carry us through songs and stages across New England. The concept of the band was reliant on the booming and talent filled South Shore Music Scene. A band made not only out of a desire to play but a need to create music that brings both musicians and audiences together.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The band started during a decidedly difficult and different time period in 2020. We built the band with the people who were there and willing and able. Since the end of the pandemic many members have had to make and take musical chances that pulled them to various corners of the world-causing personnel changes. We are blessed to know so many powerful creatives and were able to rebuild time and time again. The project name being central on Gracie’s namesake is no mistake either- her vocal style and stage presence are a touchstone to the groups evolving sound. Every time the group plays together, and no matter the line up, it is a true testament to that special something that is in the water here on the south shore and a raw representation of how regardless of if musicians grow up, move to, stay or leave this magical place that a piece of it trickles into their musical soul and stays in the heartbeat of every song subsequently touched.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Singer-songwriter Grace Ahl is a powerhouse vocalist from South Shore MA best known for her soulful take on rock, jazz, & blues. Grace has been belting across the state with a passion for performing her original songs with an often improvisational sound. She is an energetic presence that is emphasized by her ability to command her audience’s attention through emotive connection and an over-the-top vocal style. No two performances are quite alike & she likes it that way-serving the song, the stage, the moment above all else. After expanding her audience by releasing two original singles and her first live EP she was nominated 2 years in a row for Female Performer of the Year by New England Music Awards.

Grace writes for & fronts local project: Gracie Grace & All The Goodboys- a soulful pop/rock & blues outfit who most recently had the honor of receiving the award for New England’s Best Blues Act of the Year. When she is not playing with the full band, Grace keeps busy with bandmates Andrew Cornish and Declan Kelehan with monthly acoustic residencies at local hot spots, breweries, and bars such as Cisco Brewers, Tinkers Son, Break Rock Brewing in Marina Bay, The Parrot Hull, and more. Grace daylights as a k-8 music teacher at top rated private school Sacred Heart Elementary in Kingston MA—where she can be heard humming through the halls.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Overall to TRUST THE DAMN PROCESS!! Everytime we nearly lost sight or went almost off the rails – a change would happen to remind us all why we are following this path. A new song, new member, new opportunity, new fan, a new harmony, a new inside joke after band practice, a new favorite gig. Keep following those little good omens because little wins become big wins. We never thought in a million years we would be asked to play Levitate Music Festival and when we got the call a week before the show we knew that the process was worth trusting all along.
