Daily Inspiration: Meet Holly Brown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Brown.

Holly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in a rural area where there is very little arts funding or opportunities for children and the community to participate in arts programming. I decided to found The Arts Alliance as a solution to the problem and give the community and surrounding areas of Pleasant View a place to create and be creative. The Arts Alliance was established in 2018 and we are preparing to conclude our seventh season with a musical production of The Little Mermaid.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I has not been a smooth road. The struggles we’ve faced include marketing in such a small town. In addition, rural areas tend to value sports over the arts. While we are the only arts studio in a 15 mile radius, it can still be difficult to find clients who understand the value and necessity of creative outlets.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Arts Alliance is a place where all branches of “the arts” converge. We offer group and private lessons in Dance, Acro Tumbling (we are Acrobatic Arts certified), Visual Arts – drawing, painting, sculpting, mixed media, Theatre, Music- Voice, Piano, Drums, Guitar, and Yoga.

I am very proud to be able to offer so many options to students and adults alike. The fact that we offer more than “just dance,” or “just art classes” really sets us apart from other businesses and dance studios in surrounding areas.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me and The Arts Alliance’s staff the happiest is being able to share the joy of creating with so many children and adults. We LOVE putting on our annual productions that encompass our Dance, Acro, Art, and Theatre disciplines. Everything culminates in one full length musical show on stage. I couldn’t be more proud of the safe and artsy space I have created for those in our town.
