Today we’d like to introduce you to Jadyn Rylee.
Hi Jadyn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started singing when I was about 2 When I was about 6 years old. I began singing at a nearby music school and I loved it! I started to work on promoting my youtube channel so that my family could see me singing at music recitals. Over the next few years, I started to collaborate with different artists to gain popularity on social media.
When I was around the age of 9, I got invited to go to Nashville for a local television show called “Nashville Spotlight”. I was one of the many artists that sang in their Christmas show that year. One of my fans, Tommy Neal, introduced me to Curt Ryle, my current producer located in Nashville. Over the past years, I’ve been Travelling to Nashville to write songs and record my second album. My first album was released in 2019 entitled ‘The Voice of Change’
When I wasn’t in Nashville, I was collaborating with friends, a popular one Sina. (Sina Drums), her father Mike, and Rick Benbow from “Your Sound Tube” located in Germany. We recorded my most popular cover song so far, “The Sound Of Silence which has over 22 million views.
When I was 11 I auditioned to perform with the MiniPoPKids (The Canadian Version of KidsBop) We performed all over Ontario for the year which I loved. Being on stage with the group was so much fun. I really loved the choreography and being able to perform in a group.
Two years later, my parents got an email from YouTube. They were told that a casting agent was Winnipeg was trying to reach us. I found out that Sean Penn was casting a movie and that he had seen my Sound Of Silence video on YouTube and thought I looked like his daughter Dylan. I was asked to audition and send self-tapes to the casting director. Then my mom and I flew to Winnipeg to meet with the casting agent and Sean. We talked for a long time. He was so nice and at the end of the meeting, he told me that I had the role in a movie called Flag Day that he was about to shoot. I played the young version of his daughter in the movie. That was such an experience. I got to work with Sean, Penn, Katheryn Winnick, Josh Brolin, Bailey Noble, Dale Dickey, James Russo, and Regina King. I can’t believe I got to do that!
Right after the movie was finished filming, the pandemic started so I was only able to record cover songs for my YouTube channel. I really missed Nashville and Curt’s recording studio. I am SO happy to be able to get back there now. Recently I got to go back and record some new original music that will be released very soon. I can’t wait.
Currently, I continue to audition for more acting roles and work on music. I really hope to be able to do both of those things as a career when I get older!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been easy. Social media makes it very easy for people to reach you and affect how you are feeling or what you are doing. I’ve experienced bullying a fair bit, I have had stalkers that found out where I was. Probably the worst of it was a troll on Instagram. Every time I posted this person would go through each of the responses and leave profane comments.
Then he would go to each person’s profile that had responded to me and do the same to their comments. He did this for almost three years and because it was so bad some businesses didn’t want to work with me. We had to shut down all of the comments on all of my social media which wasn’t fair to the good people that were actually doing nice things.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a singer and an actor and I really love doing both. I am lucky that I can work well and quickly under pressure.
Usually, when I go into the studio to record a new song it doesn’t take more than an hour or two to get the vocals down. I’m really lucky that way.
I do work really hard at doing my best and following directions when in the studio or in front of a camera. I think that one thing that might set me apart as a singer is that I find harmonies usually come out very easily. I love to think about a song and add my own harmonies where I think they fit best.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Well if you ask my parents… lol
I think I was a pretty good kid. My parents say that I was a very happy baby. They also say that the “terrible two’s” never ended lol.
I love to be social and hang out with friends. It’s always nice to have someone to share things with and I do have some really great friends. My first interest was always singing. I sing everywhere. Sometimes it’s so bad that my parents tell me to be quiet. I really like to help people when they need it. Just being there for someone when they need you is such an amazing thing.
