Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Warner.
Hi Jason, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My partner and I make it a point to share the love in Leiper’s Fork as often as possible. We also own and operate GratiDude Ranch just down the road from Bubble Joy which serves as an event venue and lodging destination and boasts farm-to-table dinners, weddings, and other magnificent experiences. We run a non profit on the ranch that supports foster families and children called SAFE (Safe, Affirming, Foster Events), which provides a nurturing environment for foster children.
Opening our candy shop, Bubble Joy, was us really wanting to do something for the community and its families. Amongst beautiful galleries, antique stores, and restaurants, Leiper’s Fork was missing one thing – a place for the kids. In keeping with the theme of promoting families, we decided to transform the space into something that the whole family could enjoy. An old-fashioned candy shop was a no-brainer.
It’s Willy Wonka meets Walk Disney. But I want it to be more than just a candy shop – I want it to be an experience. At the heart of Bubble Joy is its Bubble Bar, a sparkling haven for creative concoctions that bring out everyone’s inner child. Start by picking a soda, add your pick of flavored syrup, popping pearl bubbles, then top it off with edible glitter, and you’ve got the signature drink, The Bubble Joy, named after a song sung to me as a child by my mother. That’s where the bubbles come from. The bubbles are edible, the drinks are glittery – it’s magic.
The Parlor which adjoins Bubble Joy is a sophisticated 1930s-inspired event space perfect for hosting private gatherings. It’s vintage charm and elegant décor complete with a beautiful, antique jukebox, make it an ideal venue for birthday parties, bachelorette parties, bridal showers, or corporate events. Guests can enjoy herbal teas or handcrafted mocktails, adding a creative twist to the celebrations. The Parlor also hosts an open mic night every Friday night.
For adults seeking a more elevated experience, the menu features a delightful selection of mocktails. These drinks not only include standard ingredients but also incorporate unique elements like mushroom adaptogens and both CBD and THC hemp.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Going from homelessness to owning a real estate portfolio has been a pretty amazing journey. I’m grateful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My story is one of resilience and hope. I had established myself as a prominent name in the contemporary Christian music industry in the late 1990s but suddenly I became homeless after coming out. This experience made me realize the importance of having a home and a safe place to live. I moved to Los Angeles to restart my music career, where I met my partner, deMarco. We toured together as a musical duo for several years and eventually became parents to twin sons. With a desire to leave a positive impact on the world, we founded a non-profit organization called S.A.F.E. (Safe, Affirming, Family Environment) that aims to create a safe and supportive community for families and children by promoting kindness, acceptance, education, and nature.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe in destiny. I believe in the power of the mind. The power of love.
