Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenn Hurless
Hi Jenn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started in New York, where I was surrounded by a huge family and the energy and creativity of the city. I have always had a passion for design and communication and that led me to earn a Bachelor of Architecture from Kent State University, Shortly after college,I married my college boyfriend and moved to San Francisco – another city brimming with creativity and design, where the architecture, art, and culture further fueled my passion for aesthetics and clever thinking.
The next stop was a move to Los Angeles, where my husband purchased a medical office. And this became our home for the next 20 years, raising 3 kids and lots of dogs.
I’ve always seen myself as a creative first and foremost. I moved away from architecture and started working on smaller design projects as I realized that my talents could translate beyond buildings and blueprints into something even more dynamic: helping people and businesses share their stories on the internet. I taught myself how to build websites and how to get people to them. I joined every social media platform as soon as they launched and tried to master them – I loved the community, connection and ease of communication of social media. In 2011, I founded Go Be Social Media, a company where I could use creativity to help brands communicate their voice and connect with their ideal communities.
The onset of the pandemic in 2020 prompted a significant shift in my life and business operations. Transitioning from a beautiful office space, I embraced a 100% virtual model for my team. This started a few years of reflection and change – my husband sold his business, two of our kids graduated college, our youngest left for college, we sold our house and decided to move in 2022. We chose Franklin as our home because it felt like the perfect blend of everything we value—family, faith, and creativity. After spending a few holidays here with loved ones, we were drawn to the city’s calm, loving energy and the warmth of everyone we met. We love the proximity to Nashville and the musical creativity and strong sense of community. It made it clear this was where we were meant to be.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think life is ever smooth, but that is what makes it a beautiful journey. Accepting, adapting, pivoting are all part of life and business. Raising three kids in Los Angeles and teaching them the values that were instilled in me growing up was important but it wasn’t easy. Working full time, managing the household and raising kids was tough. I always felt like in all aspects of my life I wasn’t 100%. That was hard. As I look back now, I wish I had given myself more grace. I was very blessed that my husband had a great job and that I was able to start a business and be around for the kids, and I try to remember that.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At my very core, I’m an idea person. I thrive on creativity and problem-solving. I bring experience and a competitive drive to everything I do. Whether it’s running my company, consulting for marketing teams, or speaking at events, I’m passionate about helping businesses use social media as a tool for connection, growth, and impact.
I specialize in looking at a business and crafting creative, tailored marketing strategies that resonate with their audience and deliver measurable results. Social media, to me, is more than just a platform—it’s social proof. It’s a way for businesses to build trust, communicate their unique message, and create meaningful relationships with their customers. I love teaching people how to incorporate social media into their lives and businesses in a way that feels authentic and achievable.
What sets me apart is my entrepreneurial background. Having owned businesses myself, I understand the importance of ROI and the balance between creativity and strategy. I don’t just think about what looks good—I think about what works. I also have a deep understanding of audiences and the importance of delivering a message with meaning and purpose.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built and the success I’ve helped my clients achieve. Whether I’m guiding a marketing team, hosting a speaking event, or helping a business refine its strategy, I bring energy, expertise, and a clear vision for how to turn ideas into results.
Any big plans?
My plan for the future includes connecting more deeply with the community, both personally and professionally. I thrive on meeting new people, exchanging ideas, and turning inspiration into action. Whether it’s creating a bold new marketing strategy or tackling a personal project, I’m a list-maker and a doer—I love seeing ideas come to life.
I’m always learning about the latest trends in digital marketing and social media, and I’m passionate about sharing that knowledge with my clients. The digital world moves fast, and staying ahead allows me to help others adapt, grow, and succeed. Creativity fuels everything I do, from brainstorming outside-the-box campaigns to discovering new ways for businesses to stand out.
On a personal note, I look forward to watching my kids enter the next exciting chapters of their lives—marriage, families of their own—and I’m secretly (or not-so-secretly) hoping they’ll settle here in Nashville. Family, faith and community mean everything to me, and I want to build a future filled with connection, creativity, and meaningful experiences.
