Daily Inspiration: Meet Jenny Morant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Morant.

Hi Jenny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Back in 2011, I moved to Nashville with my husband to start in Real Estate with our Sister-in-Law, Brianna Morant.

Brianna was a part of a growing team and thriving! I had never considered real estate before but decided to get my feet wet. I started as the lead coordinator. I didn’t even know what that role entailed! For those of you that were like me, this role meant I was the gatekeeper for anyone calling our team to ask about buying or selling. I would help facilitate the introduction of the process and Brianna would take it from there. Talking and converting leads was something I had never done before and was way out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed the challenge.

I started using a business coach that helped me come up with scripts and challenge any limiting beliefs I had. Once I had a handle on converting leads I started showing homes. This was exciting to be in front of buyers and feel the excitement of finding the perfect home. Eventually, Brianna and I started our very own woman-owned team – Oak Street Group. We have been in business together for 10 years, and have won numerous awards. Brianna handles all of our listings and I manage the buy side. We have the most fantastic team and a tight-knit work family. This is something that buyers instantly feel connected with. We take a lot of price in making sure our buyers feel heard and know that we are going to have their best interest with such a huge life decision.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve learned in my 12 years as a realtor, nothing is smooth! The market is constantly shifting, interest rates increase, there is no inventory, multiple offers, etc. In this line of business, you have to be flexible. Brianna and I are constantly pivoting how we market our business. 10 yrs ago the idea of having an Instagram account or TikTok was unheard of. Not only is the social platform changed but the technology has too.

After 2 years of Oak Street starting, we started adding more agents to our team. We were selling over 250 transactions a year. This adds a lot of additional salaries, work dynamics, etc. After 4 years of a larger team, we organically transitioned back into a simpler dynamic with just Brianna and I adding the lead agents. There is certainly nothing wrong with having large teams, small teams, or being just an individual realtor. What Brianna and I learned is that we thrived best with a smaller buttoned-up ship. We found our employees were much happier and our overall work and personal lives were in line.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the lead buyer’s agent for Oak Street Group. What sets me apart is simple – Bradley Collier! Bradley has worked with me for 8 years. Back in 2014, I was about to have my 1st child. The market already moved at a quick pace and you’d have to be ready to show a home at the drop of a hat. I knew I would never be able to be a great Mom and provide our clients with the best service.

Brianna and I ended up meeting Bradley one day through a transaction and instantly felt chemistry. He ended up working with me and specializes in finding and showing homes. He has the most spectacular way of meeting people and earning their trust and confidence.

A showing specialist is a very hard position to fill and most people cannot do it, but we do it the best! Bradley and I have such great energy together and clients feel it the minute they walk into the room. Bradley and I like to call ourselves the dynamic duo. Bradley thrives being with people and hunting for the perfect home, and I’ve discovered over the years I love the art of negotiating and getting our client’s the best deal.

We’ve found specific roles that we excel in and a process that allows us to offer the best service.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I believe in abundance. I meditate daily and write my affirmations. I think that this has kept me in the right headspace when times are a bit more of a struggle than others. I do believe that the universe has my back, and if a door doesn’t open there is a reason for that.
