Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Reed.
Hi Jesse, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been interested in detailing and making things look their best. Over time, I started learning more about metal polishing and realized I really enjoyed taking something that looked worn or ordinary and turning it into something that stood out. The more I learned, the more I wanted to push myself and work on custom metal pieces. Eventually, it became more than just detailing—it became something I genuinely enjoyed creating.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my metal polishing business has definitely come with its challenges. I’ve always been a detailer, but learning the craft of custom metal polishing took a lot of practice, patience, and trial and error. Getting the right finish, removing scratches, and learning how different metals react was something I had to develop through experience.
Turning something I loved doing into an actual business brought a whole different set of challenges. I had to learn how to price jobs, invest in the right equipment and supplies, find customers, and build a name for myself. In the beginning, getting people to trust me with their expensive and custom pieces was difficult.
The work itself can also be extremely time-consuming. When you’re going for a show-quality finish, you can’t rush the process. Sometimes one small imperfection means going back and putting hours of work into a piece again. At the same time, I’ve had to figure out how to stand out from other detailers and show people that metal polishing is something I take seriously.
One of my biggest goals is to grow the business without allowing the quality of my work to drop. I’d rather take my time and deliver something I’m proud of than rush a job just to get it done. Those challenges have pushed me to keep learning, improve my skills, and take more pride in what I create.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in custom metal polishing and detailing, with a focus on bringing worn, dull, or neglected metal pieces back to life. I’ve always been passionate about detailing, but as I learned more about metal polishing, I found myself really enjoying the process of transforming metal and creating a finish that stands out.
I work with customers who want more than just something cleaned up—they want their pieces to look unique and professionally finished. I’m especially interested in custom work because every piece can present a different challenge, and I enjoy figuring out how to get the best possible result.
What I’m most proud of is how much I’ve learned through hands-on experience. I didn’t start out knowing everything about metal polishing. I’ve spent time learning, experimenting, making mistakes, and improving my technique. Seeing the difference between where a piece started and what I’m able to turn it into now is one of the most rewarding parts of the work.
I think what sets me apart is the amount of care I put into the details. I don’t want to just finish a job—I want to be proud of the finished product and know that the customer is going to look at it and say, “That’s exactly what I wanted.” I’m constantly trying to improve my skills and push myself to create better finishes and more custom work.
Ultimately, I want my business to be known for quality, attention to detail, and taking pride in the work. I’m still growing, but that’s part of what motivates me. I want to keep learning, take on bigger and more challenging projects, and build something that people recognize for the quality of the work.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like most about Nashville is the energy and the people. There’s always something happening, and there are so many different types of people, businesses, and communities here. I also really like how much people appreciate cars, trucks, custom builds, and unique craftsmanship. That makes it a great place for a business like mine to grow.
What I like least is probably how fast the city has grown. Nashville has changed a lot, and with that growth comes more traffic, higher costs, and more competition. At the same time, I think that growth creates opportunities. There are more people, more businesses, and more potential customers, so I try to focus on the opportunities rather than the negatives.
