Daily Inspiration: Meet Julia Lucero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Lucero.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As a little girl, I was collecting Hilary Duff Lip Balms and digging through bags of colored pencils in search of the perfect fit for my coloring pages. To this day, my love for lip balm is just as present and those Crayola filled coloring pages have grown to become faces.

Sleepovers with my Middle School best friend were spent getting ready just to watch movies with makeup and snacks scattered around us. Those nights were my introduction to makeup, trying Urban Decay palettes and MAC blushes for the very first time.

I started doing makeup in High School for every Homecoming and Prom. The year I graduated, my family and I moved to Tennessee. Doing makeup at every chance I could, I started to gather brushes, tools and products for my kit. I filled my kit with options for every skin type and tone, committed to have an inclusive range. I wanted to be an artist that anyone could go to.

Pushin’ through a pandemic, the past few years have been the most consistent I’ve ever been with makeup. For me, it’s fulfilling and such a delight to do. It’s incredibly rewarding to be a small piece of someone’s wedding day, photoshoot or first hometown show.

Being able to see my work on display is surreal so, thank you to all who allow me to create with my bag of brushes.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ll have to say coming across clientele after relocating. Though, it’s amazing what social media can bring. It’s outlets like this that could possibly change the course of someone’s career. Another one would be venues without elevators. I’m not gonna lie.. it’s a struggle to get up those flights of stairs carrying a makeup kit, chair and lighting.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Makeup Artist based in the Middle Tennessee area. I specialize in all things makeup but, my goal is to one day hold a record with my work on the front cover. Music is a large love of mine and when the two worlds align, it’s a special feeling.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Feel free to reach out! I’d love to connect and collaborate with other artists.
