Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie McNabb.
Julie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Weddings have always been part of my world. My mom was a florist for over 35 years and later a wedding coordinator for five, so I grew up surrounded by her creativity and the rhythm of wedding days. I was right alongside her as her assistant, learning the flow of a wedding and what it truly takes to bring everything together.
Over time, I realized what I loved most wasn’t just the design, but the people. The relationships, the emotions, and the way a wedding can feel so deeply personal when it’s done with intention. That’s what really pulled me in.
I eventually took over the business and began shaping it into something that felt like me, which led to what is now Jules Fern Events. It’s been a blend of honoring what my mom built while creating a new vision, one that focuses on celebrations that feel joyful, personal, and completely true to each couple.
Today, I get to work with couples who trust me not just to plan their wedding, but to create an experience. That’s always the goal for me: something that feels seamless, meaningful, and uniquely theirs from start to finish.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges for me was stepping into a leadership role when that didn’t naturally come easy at first.
I was a pretty shy, soft-spoken kid, so I remember wondering what it would look like to be in a role where I’m leading a team, making decisions, and responsible for so many important moments. I’m naturally more type B, and early on I wasn’t sure if I had that level of authority in me.
But over time, I’ve realized that when it comes to my work, something shifts. I step into a different part of myself that’s confident, calm, and able to take control of a situation when needed. I didn’t fully know I had that in me at the beginning.
I still get nervous sometimes, but my love for what I do, being around people, creating meaningful experiences, and taking so much pride in my work, continues to push me to grow into that role more and more.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a wedding planner and floral designer, and through Jules Fern Events, I specialize in creating celebrations that feel deeply personal, intentional, and full of life. My work is centered around helping couples create a day that feels like them, not just something that looks beautiful, but something that feels meaningful from start to finish.
I work closely with my couples throughout the entire process, whether that’s full planning and design or stepping in closer to the wedding day, to make sure every detail is thought through and everything flows seamlessly. Because I also design florals, I’m able to approach weddings from both a logistical and creative standpoint, which helps everything feel cohesive and aligned.
What I’m most proud of is the experience we create, not just on the wedding day, but throughout the entire process. I build really meaningful relationships with my clients, and I still keep in touch with so many of them as they move into new seasons of life. That part of this work means so much to me.
I’m also incredibly proud of the team we’ve built. When I first started, it was just me and my best friend, Sarah. Now she’s one of our lead coordinators, and we have a growing team of assistants who help bring each wedding day to life. Seeing that growth and the way we work together is something I don’t take lightly.
I think what sets me apart is the balance between structure and energy. I’m very detail-oriented and organized, but I also care deeply about how the day feels. I want my couples to feel calm, taken care of, and fully present, while also feeling like they have a wedding planning bestie in their corner and their biggest cheerleader every step of the way.
My faith is also a big part of how I approach this work. It shapes the way I serve my couples and the level of care and intention I bring into every detail.
At the end of the day, I’m not just planning an event, I’m helping create an experience that people will carry with them for the rest of their lives, and that’s something I take a lot of pride in.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me through Jules Fern Events for both wedding planning and floral design, whether they’re looking for full-service support or someone to step in closer to the wedding day and bring everything together seamlessly.
The best place to start is through my website inquiry form, where we can connect, talk through your vision, and see if we’re a good fit. I always want it to feel aligned on both sides.
I also love connecting with people on Instagram, whether that’s future couples, vendors, or creatives in the industry. Building relationships is such a big part of what I do, so I’m always open to collaborations and getting to know others in the wedding space.
And honestly, one of the biggest ways people can support my business is by sharing my name with someone who’s getting married. So much of what I do grows through word of mouth, and that truly means everything to me.
