Today we’d like to introduce you to Lane Morris.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started playing and enjoying music at a very young age. Both of my parents were musicians, I was just always around it in some way or another. Later into my teenage years, I picked up the guitar, and at around the same time my parents split up, and got into a custody battle, and the guitar was the only thing I had to listen to. It was the only outlet for all of the things I was feeling. Songwriting and creating soon followed suit.
We were fairly poor during my childhood, but I was always told to work for what I wanted. My father set a great example for me. I think I’m where I’m at today because of that. Work. I’m also a firm believer in God providing the opportunities for me. He gave me the gift of creativity, placed the willing people in my path, and gave me able hands and a hard head. That’s why I’m where I’m at.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
At the beginning of my journey, it was kind of rough. A lot of that was my fault, I didn’t have any drive. As time rolled on, I discovered what it meant to want this dream to come true though.
There have been a couple of bumps, such as deciding to leave a band I was in for two years, but there’s never been a time where I thought about quitting. The biggest challenge is the sacrifice. I sacrifice a lot of time, money, sleep, and relationships. That’s the roughest thing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a musician. Around home, I’m known for being wide open, hardworking, outgoing, eclectic, and a showman. I’m very proud of the things I’ve accomplished, things such as having my studio, being a good showman, and my career as a whole thus far.
I also take pride in being original. If you listen to my music, there’s a lot of different elements that are blended into what I do. I think that sets me apart from everyone else. That and my work ethic.
What matters most to you?
Success. I’m tired of being hungry. There’s nothing else on God’s green Earth that I would want to do with my life.
I’ve tried welding, I’ve worked on a farm, I’ve made food for people, I’ve been a vet tech. I don’t need them like I need this. This is my breath. It’s my blood.
