Daily Inspiration: Meet Lee Gallagher

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lee Gallagher.

Lee Gallagher

Hi Lee, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started professionally performing and writing songs when I was in high school back in Ohio. I’ve recorded and released my music ever since.

I’ve lived in San Francisco, Joshua Tree, and New York City. I’ve toured the country with my band and have even met and played shows with some of my heroes, such as Leon Russell.

Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road – many triumphs and disappointments.

Being an artist can be mentally exhausting, and being constantly surrounded by substance abuse doesn’t help. Sometimes, the idea of creating something as beautiful as a song or a poem to try and make money can twist your mind in knots.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a singer and a songwriter specializing in my own brand of rock, folk, and psychedelic soul music.

I’m most proud of my latest record, The Falcon Ate the Flower, which was recorded with my favorite group of Los Angeles musicians, including the legendary Scarlet Rivera (Bob Dylan) on violin. I feel my voice and my songs have their own unique thing going on, it would be very hard for someone to do what I do which is what you want as an artist.

What matters most to you?
My family, music, food, books, the planet. There’s a common thread through all of these things that connects all of us.
