Today we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Treece.
Hi Leslie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a pediatrician and I have an artistic side. I have been in private practice for over 23 years. My children are grown up and I have been looking for ways to give back and to keep my mind stimulated. So I started an Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts last year to help young parents with their babies. I am growing my following and have wonderful audiences there. It has been awesome learning about making and editing videos and using all of the technology. I have built an online course for parents preparing for a new baby and have several digital downloads available on my site, leslietreecemd.com.
On the more artistic side, I have had an Etsy store (Color Me Grateful) where I have had some of my digital art for sale since 2020. I also have a sarcastic side that likes to have fun and enjoys humor, so I added a series of coffee mugs and magnets that have a sarcastic funny side. (And some that are sweet also). I have been also working on my Shopify store which has some of the same products, and a bit more of a savage tone to the site than the Etsy store. I love to laugh and to make people laugh and also to help them to feel better in times of stress, so this process has been fun! The online store is called The Traveling Pumpkin (thetravelingpumpkin.com). I hope to grow it in the future, possibly with coffee and tea accessories.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many struggles and I have spent quite a bit of time and money learning the process of making content as well as learning how to create print on demand products and how to use Canva in the design process. I have been dealing with some health problems throughout the process on top of my regular work life, etc, so I have struggled with quite a bit of exhaustion from the late nights. But it has been so much fun and I am such a better person for having learned it all. I am so excited to keep pushing into the future!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am primarily a pediatrician. I care for children from birth to age 21. I have been in medicine since 1994 (if you include school & training) and in private practice since 2001. I love my work and love helping babies and big kids and their families. It is very special work. I love making content for social media that helps families with their babies and helps them to understand what is normal and remove some of the anxiety of the process of raising children.
In my pediatric business, I am most proud of making a difference in the lives of others. In my social media presence, I am proud of the reach that I have been able to gain, therefore multiplying the impact I am able to have! In my e-commerce presence, I am most proud of the traction that my Etsy store has gained and how much joy it has brought to others. I hope I can continue to grow it.
In my personal life, I am most proud of my grown children. I was a single mom for several years starting when they were preteens. We had some tough times, but they are both amazing adults and I love them more than words can describe.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Working online feels a bit lonely at times and finding a true mentor has been a challenge. I found some groups on Facebook where I have made invaluable contacts and have been able to get some advice at crucial times. . That has worked the best.
