Daily Inspiration: Meet Lily Cottrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Cottrell.

Hi Lily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Lily Cottrell and I am the owner of Franklin & Boone Co! The names “Franklin” and “Boone” come from two of the cities that are closest to my heart, Franklin, TN, and Boone, NC. Franklin & Boone Co specializes in wedding bouquet and floral preservation and functional art.

I started making coasters Summer of 2019 because I was bored in the house one day. Shortly after that, I started to sell to friends and family. A few short months later, in Summer of 2020, I was able to launch my brand new business, Franklin & Boone Co. Throughout this process, I’ve quickly realized I can’t run this business on my own, so I have a few WONDERFUL part-time helpers that help me make this possible.

I am a full time college student at Lipscomb University studying Fashion Merchandising, Studio Art and Entrepreneurship. In my free time, you’ll find me traveling, leading worship, cooking, and doing anything creative.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest obstacle has been learning how to manage my time effectively. I’m a pretty independent and stubborn person, so asking for help is hard for me to do sometimes. I would find myself working 15+ hour days and ended up hitting a wall. I took 3 months off of work last Spring to re-brand and re-vision my company, and it has helped so much! The #1 thing I learned while taking a break was that I physically couldn’t run this business by myself without becoming burnt out and tired all the time. I am so grateful I decided to add to the team!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our small team takes on 15-20 wedding bouquets a month, while also stocking up stores all across the United States and Canada with our products. Our most popular items are our hand curated charcuterie boards and coaster sets, but we offer a variety of additional options for brides.
