Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda Ingram.
Hi Linda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised in California, I knew I was a lucky girl. I was blessed with amazing food, culture, weather, and unbelievable opportunity to be in a large variety of natural landscapes within a few hours’ drive. However, it never really felt like home to me. After my first two years of college, I transferred to a school in Georgia where I completed my degree in journalism. At the time of my graduation, the economy had just begun to experience a recession. I could hardly even get an interview for a field-related job at the time, so I followed one of my biggest passions: travel! I spent five years exploring the world as an international flight attendant which turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! Nonetheless, living out of a suitcase did lose its “glamour” so I moved to Florida and had the tough task of finding a career that was as equally exhilarating. A brief stint in marketing for a property management company assured me that a desk job was not going to cut it, and led me to earning my cosmetology license. I am so glad I did! I certainly found a career that fits my creative side but allows me to provide a life that is rich in opportunities to cultivate amazing relationships with my guests! After visiting Nashville religiously since 2008, I finally made the official move to Tennessee in fall of 2018.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Without question, the most life-changing moment for me was when my apartment was destroyed in the Nashville bombing on Christmas Day, 2020. After an already turbulent year due to pandemic-related changes, that morning was such a traumatic experience. After spending a decade of dreaming of living on Nashville’s historic 2nd Avenue, it finally became reality! Such a carefully curated plan came to shambles in a matter of seconds. Losing nearly everything I owned, taught me that no struggle is too tough to overcome. Appreciate every blessing with gratitude and don’t forget to look back and celebrate how far you’ve come!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hairstylist, specializing in color, extensions, and styling. My favorite color projects are when I get to use balayage techniques to customize a color specifically formulated for each individual client. I also love creating beautiful transformations through high-quality hair extensions and working on location styling hair for events and shows. Ultimately, the best part of being a stylist is the opportunity to help people feel good about themselves; it’s truly what makes my job so exciting and rewarding!
What’s next?
Eventually, I would like to use my diverse professional background and become an educator. I would love to teach new coming industry students as well as established professionals. One thing I love most about this industry is that you never stop learning!
