Daily Inspiration: Meet Lisa Pezzarello

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Pezzarello.

Hi Lisa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Lisa Marie Pezzarello and I am 31 years old. I am from Southern California and I have an amazing little boy named Jackson. I am going to jump into the story of how I ended up in Tennessee and dancing my way through life.

I hadn’t been on a plane in 13 years, I was newly exploring life and decided I wanted to see somewhere new on my own. I was feeling stagnant with myself at home and knew I needed to grow. I thought where could I go by myself where I could enjoy food, music, and people? Nashville immediately came to mind and my heart was set on it.

Here I was in a city full of live music that instantly made me feel alive. I don’t drink but I love meeting new people and hearing about different walks of life. I felt at home, which was a new feeling I didn’t know I could have. I was dancing my heart out all over Broadway. I fell in love with the people, the ability to listen to music at any time, and the feeling this city gave me.

Fast forward months later, after some planning with my son’s father, we were saying goodbye to the west coast and driving across the country to my new home. For a move like this to be favored by both separated parents, I knew it was just meant to be for everyone involved.

I came to Nashville with a remote job not knowing what was soon to come. As I started exploring my new home, I found a vibrant place called Nashville Palace. A honky tonk filled with line dancing and partner dancing. It soon became my community, my family and I started working there as a line dancer. Shortly after I started there, I received an opportunity through a mutual friend about acting in a music video that featured a single mom and her son by Waylon Nihipali. At this point in my life, I was 30 and had not ventured into many new hobbies besides dancing. Did I think I could act? Absolutely not.

Did I have the passion to try new things? Absolutely, with every ounce of me. I told them I would give it my all and we soon found out I could act. I began to get more music video, dancing, and modeling opportunities and I was sold on pursuing my passions and trying new things. I found an outlet for my creativity. It’s been about a year and a half and I cannot express how in awe I am of where I am now in life and where I was in regard to self-growth. The music videos I’ve gotten to be a part of and the amazing people I’ve met through doing those have made me so happy and have been some of my fondest moments. To think…had I never taken that solo trip, I would still be working an office job and missing out on how much love I would have for being around music and a new career.

If you asked me 10 years ago did I ever think I could act or model, I would say never. It took the past four years of meeting new people, trying new things, building confidence, and having the courage to put myself out there to be where I am at today. I encourage everyone to try new things. You never know what new passions and hobbies you could find yourself thriving in if you never put yourself out there. The love you can find in a new place. The people you could meet. My advice to you is to buy a plane ticket, talk to a stranger, try something new, and spend the rest of your life filled with activities that make you feel alive. You may just find your new passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, a lot of the past year and a half has gone smoothly for the most part with the move but of course, there is a personal struggle with putting yourself in a new place and trying new things. Sometimes it came with some insecurities and nervousness.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently act, model, and dance. Those are my true passions so sometimes I almost hesitate to say they are my careers since it’s newer to me. Dancing is my absolute first love. Partner dancing is my favorite. I love the feeling of telling a story to an audience based on the music. Musicality holds my heart.

I am so very proud of every project I’ve ever gotten to be a part of. The people I have met on every set have been absolutely incredible to work with and I’ve made so many friends through those experiences. In the past year and a half, I have gotten to be in music videos with Walker Hayes, Muscadine Bloodline, Michelle Branch, Chase Matthews, Dusty Leigh/Colt Ford, Asher Cataldo, and Holdyn Barder. Along with a couple of commercials and have gotten to dance at quite a few events.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Every single person I have met on set has done nothing but encourage me and help build my confidence as I grow in the industry.

The photographers, videographers, directors, and everyone behind the scene deserve just as much credit as the actors. There is so much talent on every set. My beautiful friends have been such big supporters and I am so lucky to have a great support group here.
