Daily Inspiration: Meet Mac Watts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mac Watts.

Hi Mac, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always wrote stories. I always had a love for music from a young age but never got into it until later in life. I watched my cousins growing up play music during hunting season, kind of how I got introduced to live music. I started teaching myself guitar when my Xbox broke in college. I played my first bar gig not long after and I fell in love with performing just like that! I finished my degree and moved to Nashville and then the fun really started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing good comes easy, or nothing worth working towards I guess I’d say. There’s a lot of struggles in this business. It can be very lonely. Growing up in a very close family and close group of friends, it was difficult to move away from all of that. Moving to Nashville has taught me so much about the business and formed me into the performer I am today. If you’re not having fun even when the times get tough, it can be a difficult journey.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist. Singer songwriter. I pride myself on my performance. If we’re not having a good time, neither are the people in the crowd. It’s about them the second we walk in the building. I think I write songs that we all can relate to, it’s just my version of one of anyone’s story.

What matters most to you? Why?
Family. They’re everything to me. At the end of the day, they have always and will always be there. Without them, I’d be lost. I’m very lucky for that.
