Today, we’d like to introduce you to Madeline Rae.
Hi Madeline, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been singing since I was in diapers. I have no doubt music was woven into my bones from conception, but I also had an incredible built-in mentor and teacher in my sweet mama. From age 2-18, we sang and played piano and harmonized together. After high school, I moved to Dallas, Texas, for college, where I studied Music Business with an emphasis in Songwriting.
This opened my mind to new ways of creating and helped me pivot from my home-grown music roots to a sharpened entrepreneurial music industry perspective. A few years later, after traveling and falling in love with a broadened horizon, I moved to Nashville, TN. I have lived in this city for over three years now, and I try to dig a little deeper into the industry every day. Nashville feels like home to me now, & I am grateful for the ways it has shaped and stretched me. I have hardly scratched the surface, and yet, I feel like my growth as an artist continues to build and bubble over with every new chapter.
I’m a full-time freelance girl these days. I keep myself busy by juggling songwriting, performing, touring, teaching, mentorship, nannying, & private yacht service as a stewardess and entertainer. I have a cat, a dog, a chameleon, wonderful friends, & an amazing family who support me without question. Life is good. God is good.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life has ups and downs. There’s no way around that.
The hard things teach you invaluable lessons and allow you to understand yourself better. Failure sharpens you for your next endeavor. The road wasn’t smooth, but I have always had the support of loved ones who believed in me & doors that opened with God’s perfect provision.
I endured loss and heartbreak, which found its way into my music and connected me to a part of myself I had never known before. I am a better songwriter because of these experiences, and I now sing with a deeper level of conviction. Everything has led to growth, so none of it, not even the excruciating parts, was a waste.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an independent singer-songwriter, performer, recording artist, and entrepreneur based in Nashville, Tennessee. I specialize in indie-pop vocals and have my own personal artist project under the stage name “Madeline Rae.” I have a small array of releases on streaming platforms (more coming soon!) and am best known for my vulnerable lyricism and honest approach to songwriting.
I tell the truth with unhindered authenticity and write directly from the heart. I currently sing background vocals with an incredible band in town called “The Blue House Band” and am actively seeking vocal studio work and collaborative opportunities with other local artists and businesses. I am the founder of a customizable, shapeshifting cover band called “The Moment,” specializing in intimate covers and saucy, upscale jazz standards. We perform for private parties, wedding ceremonies, and other special events nationwide.
I am a private songwriting and voice coach, and I am launching an exclusive artist development program called “Ultimate Artist.” The mission is to help aspiring artists develop their unique identity, brand, & skillset to equip them for success in the ever-changing industry of music. Outside of music, I double as a freelance stewardess in the yachting industry. My dream is to combine both industries and put on intimate yacht concerts for music lovers, yacht owners, and charter guests all over the world. I love performing for intimate crowds, and I am presently playing small house concerts around the states and headlining my own mini-artist tour.
I am the most proud of my integrity. It keeps me grounded, honest, genuine, humble, driven, and open to growth and change. My integrity in business, relationships, and in life is something that I believe sets me apart. I hope it continues to follow me in all of life’s seasons.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t really believe in luck. I believe we are faced with choices that cause ripple effects, and we receive opportunities because of the reputation we build and the hard work we put in. I believe God opens doors, and I have seen him provide for me relentlessly over the years.
I have been blessed financially when I was empty and have found hard times that pushed me to grow. To me, luck doesn’t exist. Some of us are born with resources that allow us an advanced starting position, but we can all forge a way. It’s the forging that makes life beautiful in the end.
