Daily Inspiration: Meet Madison Wolfe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Wolfe.

Hi Madison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started taking guitar lessons at 13 and my teacher was a HUGE singer/songwriter in Milwaukee, Keith Pulvermacher, where I’m from, and the guitar lessons quickly turned into songwriting lessons. Every Thursday, my dad and I would go and write songs. Throughout the next 5 years, I put out an EP and a few singles, all songs I wrote with my dad (Rob Olson), Keith, and a few others! Keith is the reason I am the songwriter I am today, and he deserves all the thanks in the world.

Then, what jumpstarted my Nashville career, was the help and guidance of entertainment attorney Jim Zumwalt. Through mutual friends/family members, he heard my music and told me about Belmont University (where I majored in Music Business and graduated in November of 2020), NSAI, and many other things that have formed me into the singer/songwriter I have become. From there, I met my mentor Bart Herbison at NSAI, and he has been so influential into my career as well. I value his opinion so much, and honestly, he’s always right!

I play at the Listening Room Cafe about once a month and have and continue to write with so many incredible writers, I can confidently say that with the help and guidance of everyone who is/has ever been on my team, I am finding myself in my writing and artistry and loving every moment of it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have struggled with anxiety since I was about 15 and having my biggest obstacle be one in my own head is really hard. Moving 600 miles from home to chase my dream was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. I am so glad I did and that I didn’t give up, but it was not an easy road. I am very family oriented and I think being so far away was the hardest part. Also having panic attacks while being 600 miles away added a whole new level of fear to my life. Thank God for therapy and modern medicine, because I am so much better now and enjoying life again. But don’t get me wrong, I choose everyday to not let the anxiety win, and some days are harder than others for sure. I have finally started to write songs about it in the last few years, and I hope that those songs help people who feel the same way I do, because I feel like it’s not talked about enough.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a country/pop country songwriter and I’ve kind of always known I wanted to be an artist on top of that. I like to think I specialize in the hook (the last line in the chorus; the one that delivers the title and the purpose of the song) as my friends have nicknamed me for being good at that. Otherwise, I think I excel with the storytelling aspect of songwriting. A mentor of mine once said that your lyric should be the script for a music video and I really try to do that with every song I write.

I am most proud of how much I have grown since I started writing at 13. I have gained so much confidence not only in myself/my artistry but in my writing as well. I feel like over the last 10 years I have really molded myself into the person/songwriter/artist that I want to be and now it’s all about letting people see just who Madison Wolfe is.

What matters most to you?
My family is the most important thing in my life, but they are a close second to The Lord. My faith and my family have given me talents, obstacles, love, hope, and together they formed me into the woman I am today. I thank Jesus every day for what God has given me and for the family that I have, as I truly don’t think there’s a better one out there!
