Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Jackson.
Marissa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a people person so I love entertaining and making people smile. The first venture I decided to explore was becoming a personal shopper. I LOVE clothes and more than anything I love playing dress-up and always have. I use to dress up as a princess and I had all of the princess heels and tea parties (only we used my grandpa’s coffee lol). I’m a firm believer of “If you look good…you feel good” and that it doesn’t take a lot of money to look good. So, I pride myself on shopping on a budget which makes me huge on finding sales and thrifting. I can make an outfit from Goodwill look like it came from Neiman Marcus. It’s never WHAT you wear it’s always HOW you wear it. I try and help those who are tired of the same old look or who just simply don’t like shopping for themselves.
If anyone knows me, they know I take pictures all day long! Videos, selfies, TikToks you name it! I had a camcorder in high school to record any and everything. So, I decided to invest in a 360 Photo Booth. I mean…who doesn’t like to be on camera?? This is probably one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I am such a hype individual and I bring that same energy to every event I host. My goal is to make people feel good about themselves. If they are on my 360 platform and they have on a sparkling blue dress, you will hear me yelling and screaming out “She’s bad…she knows it! That blue dress is for sure to show it!” They love to hear it!!! I’m here to make smiles happen…it’s what I’m good at.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t believe there is even a such thing as a smooth road. I believe we smooth it as we go along. I had no clue what I was doing at first business-wise but I have some great friends and family who supported me and answered any questions I had. Once I got started it became clear that it’s all about what I make it. It’s only up from here!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an HR Specialist which of course deals with helping people. I truly enjoy assisting customers in finding solutions and ways to stay positive and grow from within. According to my classmates from not only high school, but also college I’m known for being the “life of the party”. I’ve also been told my energy level is unmatched meaning I’ve always had a positive attitude and can adapt to any situation.
What I’m most proud of is my marriage and family. I have one of the most supportive husbands you can have. We work together and make things happen. We communicate and console each other. I love everything about him and I’m blessed to have someone in my corner who understands me and allows me to be me. He encourages me to be a better person and pours into my career and my business. My children are my inspiration. I’m a boy mom and they give me a run for my money but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I do what I do for them.
What sets me apart from others is my spirit. I have a spirit that can light up the room. I really do feel energy and when I sense the energy is bad, I adapt and learn how to turn that energy into something good. I believe when someone crosses your mind you reach out to them. I always call people and say “I didn’t want anything… I was just calling.” They always laugh at me for it but they also think it’s cool that I don’t call just because I need or want something. I’m a good person and I pride myself on that.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Yes. Listen, we don’t know when our last days are, so we have to live every day like it is our last. No regrets, no excuses, and no what-ifs! You have to do what makes you feel good on the inside. Stop looking for answers in toxic situations and believe in yourself and what you can do. If we continue to try the same thing over and over again and get nowhere, why are we still trying that same way? Learn from your mistakes, adapt, and find a different route to the happiness you are searching for. There are many roads to success and happiness we just have to open our ears, eyes, and minds to realize that we make the change… it doesn’t make us.
