Daily Inspiration: Meet Mark Cash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Cash.

Hi Mark, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Wow! I grew up very poor. On food stamps, etc.

I never realized it. Because my mom made sure we had what we wanted. My sister and I never went without meals or new clothes. I was the first in my family to actually leave and travel. I went to college and never looked back. I’m not living in Nashville chasing the dream.

When I’m not singing or onset. I like to build relationships with my local homeless friends. I love bringing them what they need and reminding them that they matter.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely, not. I wish I could say it was. I’ve always been a person to just jump. And, it hasn’t let me down yet. I’ve had to sleep on friends’ couches. I even lived in a hotel for two months.

But, I never gave up. When you have a dream, you fight for it. Every struggle has taught me a lesson. It’s made me a stronger man. And, allowed me to use grace with other people.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an entertainer (Singer/Songwriter, Actor, Host, Emcee, etc).

I just love performing. I have some amazing fans. If I can call them that. I consider anyone who supports me a friend. I’m this industry it’s easy to be something that you’re not. I show up every day as my authentic self. And, the right people continue to find me. I love the community!

I’m not sure what sets me apart from others in this industry. I’m not looking to be “famous”. I just want to create, do what I love, make people smile, and pay my bills!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
My entire life has been a series of risk-taking. As I stated before. I’m a jumper. I always follow my instincts. When I feel it in my gut, I go for it.

Right out of high school, I moved across the country for a ministry program I was accepted into. I wasn’t afraid. I was just excited about a new adventure. Life is so short. We should all take more chances. If it works out, awesome! If it doesn’t work out, awesome!

There is a lesson in everything. I don’t want to be 90 and WISH that I had done something. I want to be 90 and giggle about the memories I made. Take the risk!
