Daily Inspiration: Meet Melinda Bishop- Hoots

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melinda Bishop- Hoots.

Hi Melinda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went to beauty school at Jon nave at 22. Started assisting my sister Mitzi Bishop at Bishops salon.when I was 23. Decided to get out on my own and ventured out to several different salon before starting my own business! I was scared to death about starting but prayed about and took a leap of faith!! To my surprise it has been the best thing I could have ever done!! I wondered why I didn’t do it sooner!! I work with great ladies and gents now! Love working in my own MH Studio 10 myself! I’m my own boss and my best employee!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve always love what I do ! If I have to talk about struggles would be working in big salons with many different personalities. They can be very competitive and a lot of drama. That is the biggest struggle in my business that I remember . It’s the same in customers sometimes. Nothing personal towards any customers . It’s also about learning how to connect with people build a relationship and try to keep emotions in check with certain people . Not every body is going to be the perfect match but if you can find common grounds. Stay away from talking politics , religion and your personal life . Customers like to talk about themselves;) Learn to listen!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a hairdresser! I love what I do ! It has been a worthy job! I do great color! Highlights , Touch up color, precise haircuts and yes permanent waves !! I’m a kind hairdresser! Confident in what I do! Good at customer service! Prompt and patient!
