Daily Inspiration: Meet Myranda Achvan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Myranda Achvan.

Hi Myranda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I always wanted to create something special and impactful for people, but I also wanted to build something that my children could look back on that will contribute to their memories. I am now a content creator for my Motherhood and Lifestyle channel on YouTube called “Myranda Achvan.” Before starting my channel, I wanted to make and create films, but life wasn’t in a place where that was feasible.  After I gave birth to my second daughter, I was home one day rocking her and happened to put on YouTube. I stumbled across a Mom YouTube channel and began to look into a few more. I had seen some mom YouTube channels and how everything is always done and seems so perfect and I thought to myself, “that cannot be how it really is for them.” It makes you look at yourself and think, “what am I doing wrong?”, “Why can’t I keep up?”  Life is not always perfect and shiny like a lot of YouTubers like to show. So, I created my channel to be realistic and transparent about home and life. I am a stay-at-home mom now to three and my husband is working literally all the time. I’m managing the household by myself and it’s as tuff as it gets. I wanted to come from a place that empowers other parents where they can relate yet come to, to gain motivation. I film throughout the day and edit randomly as I get the chance (mostly editing after. the kids are in bed for the night.) I then catch up with my YouTube subscribers, answer comments and questions, and have some laughs with them. By creating motherhood and lifestyle videos on YouTube, I was able to open this door, meet people and fulfill my artist cravings through making content.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. When creating a YouTube Platform, it is essential to have other social media platforms connected to the channel for it to grow. I did not have any of the social media platforms that were needed when I began nor was I knowledgeable of them. Being self-taught, I had to learn each social media platform, what each platform was for and how each one would contribute to my channel. I then had to open an account and build each one from scratch. That is not easy to do. You also need to make each platform unique and esthetically pleasing which called for photography and editing skills that I had to learn too. The largest hurdle was learning the settings on the camera equipment and the editing software. I learned three software programs before I found the best one for me. There are so many detailed aspects that go into having a YouTube Channel come together.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I make content to help people in their own daily life. My work is to create video content to make sure that parents taking care of the household are recognized for doing their job and to empower them. Whether they sit back, relax for that moment and watch what and how I do things, or they use my videos as motivation to tackle their own daily tasks. What sets me apart is my genuineness. I specialize in creating content with a different twist, with honest information. I am ready to allow strangers into my life when I create my content, yet I am still protective of my family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Let me first explain exactly what the definition of luck is. Luck is success or failure brought by chance and not one’s actions. I don’t believe in luck but rather, I believe in hardship and the outcome is within choices. After graduating high school, I dreamed of having a successful career and a family. I had a rough start, but eventually, everything came together for me. I had my first daughter out of wedlock and struggled as a single parent. I left college but later chose vocational school for cosmetology in hopes it would fulfill my artistic side and that I would be able to support my daughter nice. I enjoyed doing that but it didn’t fulfill me. However, I met the man who became my husband through vocational school. He accepted my daughter and would later help me with her through one of our most difficult times in life. Having him by my side has been truly helpful, and definitely is a part of the good for me and our daughters. Before moving to Nashville, my husband found the career he wanted. I supported us while he went through courses to learn about it, and after the completion of those courses, he has been successful in his career. This has allowed me to be a stay-at-home mom. It wasn’t until after the birth of our youngest daughter, that I knew I wanted to be a Motherhood and Lifestyle content creator on YouTube.
