Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Hufford. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Nate Hufford began playing the drums at age seven. He was born in Stillwater Oklahoma (a university town with an Austin-like music scene beginning in the early 70s through the 80s) to two musicians with a popular recording studio. Nate was not only mentored and influenced by his parents but also very talented local
musicians.
Skip to 2004, Nate relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. He quickly gained attention and went on to tour worldwide in arenas and clubs as a hired musician for notable acts and bands, including but not limited to Everlife, Brenn, TheRoosevelts, Willhoge, NeedtoBreathe, Clemency, Modoc, and Jacksonwaters.
He has performed on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show, drummer for Everlife on Miley Cyrus tours, and other acts totaling over 1200 shows. Nate is also the other half of the Dead Sea Empire. Their unique sound has been described as hauntingly beautiful alternative music that takes the listener on a musical journey.
In the past year and most recently, Dead Sea Empire has had thirteen placements in the Showtime TV series, Shameless. In addition, other placements include; Hulu’s Light as a Feather, PlayStation’s Powers, and New Line Cinema/Warner Brothers movie, Within.
Nate Hufford’s solo career is captivating because he performs all of the instruments, produces, writes, and sings creating his own unique sound. He also recently released a new EP with Dead Sea Empire and is currently working on it, it is expecting to be released in the summer of August 2021 release.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s definitely been ups and downs. In my 20’s I put a lot of pressure on myself to try and meet my goals, sustain my career and keep up with everyone else… that amount of pressure on yourself can make it feel like a bad job.
Now, I try to not put an unhealthy amount of pressure on myself. I just try and do what I do and that keeps the music enjoyable and fun for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Songwriter/musician
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think a lot of my accomplishments have been at being in the right place at the right time and also word of mouth.
