Daily Inspiration: Meet Nicolas Scheuer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolas Scheuer.

Hi Nicolas, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to the US from Brazil 12 years ago to Boston, MA, to start my dance career. Since then, I have joined Nashville Ballet as a male leader dancer, performing in the United States and Europe with big productions. In addition to my dance career, I’ve opened my dance school, NS Dance Academy, in Brentwood, TN. We are turning 1 year at the end of the month and set to have full productions with 31 dancers, Being a professional dancer in the biggest dance company in TN and a small business owner has its challenges. Still, I am very grateful to be here for the last 10 years of my life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
Being a professional dancer has so many challenges, first of all coming to to a different country, getting a work visa, learning the language, injuries, and the list goes on.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
NS Dance Academy is a brand new business. I started by myself with no support or students. We are turning 1 year old with two big productions already. Working with kids is incredibly fulfilling; seeing your students grow and make their dreams come true is the best.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people think I have to have a healthy diet because I am a dancer. However, I don’t eat vegetables or fruits; I eat cheesecake every night for dessert.
