Daily Inspiration: Meet Randy Obasuyi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randy Obasuyi.

Hi Randy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was at a very young age when I first caught a love for music. From hearing musical tunes throughout the house, playing the drums in the church, singing in the choir, navigating different instruments, and entering the realm of production. I was still in high school when I kicked off my music production career. I began making beats and instrumentals off my phone, then transitioned to a laptop. I graduated at the start of the COVID pandemic, which deterred my tenacious longing for the college life. I instead fell full fledged and devoted those years to creating and mastering my sound, investing in myself, and networking with other creatives like myself.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Just like many other young creatives, I’ve faced my fair share of adversity. As the youngest of six, and a first generational African American, I’ve climbed and scraped my way through doubt, oppression, and the cycle of poverty and violence.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a multiplatinum, Billboard #1 charting producer, engineer, and songwriter redefining what music can be.
I developed an ear for the unexpected early on. That foundation became a philosophy: find the most rambunctious, unconventional sounds imaginable, merge them, and forge something entirely new.
My work sits at the intersection of art and architecture — building songs from nothing into cultural moments. I don’t just make records; I engineer experiences, crafting sonic worlds that shift how music is both heard and conceived.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I wouldn’t say luck played a part in my journey, rather than trusting in doing the hard work itself, and manifesting my thoughts and ideas from my brain into reality, and keeping an optimistic mindset.
