Daily Inspiration: Meet Shay Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shay Knight.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I knew for sure my life had great purpose once I realized that I’ve survived all I’ve been through. I still had breath in my body. God’s Grace and mercy kept me during 9 car wrecks, 2 jealous and abusive relationships, and long-term damage done as a little girl by the hands of those I trusted.

Majority of my childhood was spent growing up in Selmer Tennessee. I got a taste of the big city Nashville life when I moved in with family for a few years. I attended Jr High at Two Rivers and a freshman year at McGavock High.

In 1994 I was headed back to small-town living.

The older I got the more challenging life seemed to get. For over 40 years of my life, I disqualified myself. I looked into many mirrors to say I wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t smart enough, or I wasn’t pretty enough. I counted myself out of anything good.

Harboring unresolved trauma, especially from childhood can develop fear, mental and emotional blocks in one’s life. Although I carried a big smile on my face, I remained bitter and broken inside. I blamed people and anything I could for what I did not have.

Before placing God in my life, my life was full of fear, self-doubt, and unworthiness. I am a survivor of childhood trauma and domestic violence. Through being a giver and helping others I discovered a path to being an entrepreneur. In August 2020 I began a journey of self-discovery. I often questioned myself with, who are you? What are your dreams and goals? Did my life have vision? Making up your mind to become a No Matter What person will give birth to a part of you that you don’t know right now.

Once you discover you, YOU BECOME UNSTOPPABLE! After many years of being a prisoner to my fears, I was eager to fall in love with me and discover my power voice. In order to create my future, I chose to let go of the past and live in the present. I chose to accept me, all of me, flaws and all. Something amazing was developing within me. Day by day I peeled back layers to uncover my truths. Some layers hurt a little more than others the deeper I went to face the damage and mishandling to little me. The more I faced, the less I feared, the stronger I became. Pain to purpose!

In 2010 LadyLegs/Shay Knight Carshow for Cancer began after my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. The annual event is held every July. It brings car, truck, and bike lovers together from many cities to contribute to individuals battling cancer. I give a big thank you to my family and friends that help organize the event year after year. We celebrate 12 years strong this year. The support has been ecstatic. Seeing my mother’s courage to smile the whole duration of treatment, radiation and surgery inspired me to not complain. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.

In 2020 I took on better health for myself. When you feel good you feel God. Feeling joyful attracts abundance. I joined the Total Life Changes team to become a product of the product and then a sales representative. I Increased my water intake, made better eating choices, and exercised on a regular. I feel better than amazing! I don’t look like what I’ve been through! I enjoy helping others improve their health. Health is wealth!

Once I involved myself with reading books, developing new habits and patterns along with repetitive positive thinking, my creative mind begin to come alive. Be willing to sacrifice what you are for who you can become!

When growth began to take place, I Improved on not having an interest in materialistic things. I went from riding 28-inch rims to Investing in and rolling an 18-wheeler truck. I chose to not be handicapped to an industry I’ve put money into. So, I set out to obtain a commercial driver’s license as well. I graduated TCAT Jackson trucking school. I challenged myself even more by getting the double/triple, tanker, and hazmat endorsements.

The following year I purchased a couple of rental properties for investments as gifts to my daughter. Something for her children’s children to own someday.

For several years I ran from the opportunity of being an insurance producer because I feared math and numbers. After my instructor Mr. Tom told me to see it as money and not math, I excelled the course. I am now Shay Knight from State Farm! I’m a licensed multi-line sales specialist in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

If you say you can and if you say you can’t… either way you are right! Through believing with a determined mind, you can make the impossible possible.

I developed a desire to be a motivational speaker in October 2020. I am a graduate of Les Brown Power Voice Training. Shay Knight Speaks! Someone spoke to change my life so I choose to speak to help change someone else’s life. I am a voice of hope and encouragement. I inspire to make a difference. If I can just help one person, I’ve done enough. Hearing my daughter say I’m proud of you mom meant the world to me. I learned that Life will be hard at times, but when we do what’s hard, we can make life easy. Despite what the situation looks like, Trust that God is working it out for you. Allow what you go through to strengthen and develop you for your next. Understand that Life is going to happen, so embrace it! Don’t quit, don’t give up on you! I believe in you! Keep going, keep pushing, the results are going to be better than amazing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No! Not at all! Forgiveness was a struggle! How do you forgive what hurt you? Forgiveness is not for them, it’s for you! Forgiveness is not forgetting, Forgiveness sets you free! You reclaim power back over your life! Peace didn’t reside with the ENEMIES, it was with the INNER ME! Let go to grow!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I desire to inspire! I am a motivational speaker. I speak to be a voice of hope to women and youth. As the CEO and Founder of LadyLegs Ent., We’ve raised thousands of dollars to benefit cancer patients and their families. I am an upcoming author. I am an advocate for mental health.
