Today we’d like to introduce you to Sherri Stickler.
Hi Sherri , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My path in herbalism began in childhood. I would say it was shaped by a lot of time outdoors, where I developed a deep love for nature and a greater sense of God’s presence in creation. I entered the healthcare field as a Respiratory therapist because I have a deep empathy for people and wanted to help them. I quickly learned that I could help, but I was always treating symptoms of deeper issues that were never resolved, and the hamster wheel of seeing the same people for the same things was discouraging. I began to dive into holistic approaches and started using natural remedies to support the health of family and friends, always with a desire to care for others in a holistic way by using what God has provided.
My background as a respiratory therapist helped me understand the physiology of herbs on the body and broadened my knowledge of herbal practice and how herbs work in the body. I completed many programs and mentored for 2.5 years with Susan Fidler, a respected physiotherapist and Registered Herbalist, before applying to become a registered herbalist through the AHG. My path has helped me to blend traditional herbal wisdom with modern understanding.
I began Synergy Herbal Works out of my home in Cookeville, TN, in 2014 to provide holistic herbal consultations for people in need and to educate them on alternative holistic measures for health. In 2019, we moved to Sparta, TN, and opened up product offerings and educational classes to the public. With increased growth and demand, We opened up a second location in Cookeville in October of 2024. This represented an exciting expansion of our mission to provide our community with natural, high-quality wellness products and educational resources. Offering a unique combination of products and educational opportunities, we have become a go-to destination for customers seeking natural remedies and holistic health solutions in these communities
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Synergy has grown year over year since its inception. With that growth, there have been challenges to keep up with the demand, including balancing home life, and learning how to run a business while navigating rules, regulations, and codes. Being a creative person is wonderful because there is always a vision for what you want to do, but the logistics of getting there can bog you down. I was able to draw on my past experience in management to help, but I experienced freedom to move forward when I found people who could help me navigate taxes and employee hiring, and payroll. It takes a lot of courage to step out and follow a dream and a lot of work to make it happen.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an herbalist, I combine traditional herbal wisdom with a deep understanding of the human body to support natural, holistic wellness. I provide personalized herbal consultations, create custom formulas, and educate others on how to use plant medicine safely and effectively in everyday life, with respect for both science and nature. I aim to support the body’s natural ability to heal and restore balance by developing personalized herbal protocols that may include teas, tinctures, dietary suggestions, and lifestyle support. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach—each person’s body and story are different, and I treat them as such.
Many people come to me when they are not able to find help anywhere else. By balancing systems in the body with suggestions, I have seen people improve who have auto-immune issues, hormone imbalance, infertility, and a whole host of other problems.
I love the journey with customers that come into the store and with clients as they discover the benefits of botanicals and a holistic approach to their lives. I provide an atmosphere and products that I hope open up the same sense of awe and passion that I feel when I talk about and use plants and other holistic products for balancing health.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Outside of consultations and overseeing Synergy Herbal Works, I find peace, purpose, and grounding on our small farm, where I maintain a small herd of dairy goats. Time in the barn, milking is a cherished ritual that connects me to the simplicity and steadiness of farm life. It is my quiet time. I’m also an avid gardener and forager. I grow and forage things that we use in our manufacturing at Synergy. There’s something deeply satisfying about tending a plant from seed to remedy. It reminds me that healing takes time, patience, and trust in the process. These quiet moments on the farm bring balance to my work and reinforce the very principles of Synergy and natural wellness that continue to shape my vision and approach at Synergy Herbal Works.
