Daily Inspiration: Meet Stevie Redstone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stevie Redstone.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Been singing since I was a youngin. Got the songwriting and rock n’ roll bug in middle school. Honed my craft over years, many of which were while I was in a band called Redstone Hall. Band breaks up just after releasing our first real EP. (That was super fun). Went solo. Toured quite a bit under a different moniker. Shape-shifted into Stevie Redstone in 2019 and released my full length album SHOT IN THE DARK. That pretty much brings us up to date (besides the last two years which shall not be named) … Oh, I also moved to Nashville!!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been smooth, but it’s all about the journey right? Struggles/challenges include – Learning how to play instruments, write songs, perform, book shows, promote shows, book tours, tour in a van and often play for the bartenders at first, learn some graphic design so you don’t have to pay/wait on others to provide it, fight for radio play without a record label, learn how to run ads when they keep changing the rules/what works, navigating social media when self-promotion is not nearly your natural state, being a good husband and recently becoming a father (!), moving across the country with baby, (and awesome wife), and being hit with a world-altering pandemic just when over a decade of work felt like it was beginning to show some payoff. None of this is to sound whiney or ungrateful. You asked, haha. I’m EXTREMELY grateful for everything, and believe it’s about the work. I can’t control the universe or the results, but I love making music, writing songs, building gratifying creative relationships, and going for it! Anything less would be uncivilized.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer, songwriter, performer. Besides vocals, my main instrument is keys. I also play some guitar. I’m most proud of my relationships/love shared with my family, and friends and fans. Professionally I would say my live show is what really sets me apart. I’m stoked on my recordings, but when people see me live is when they really start to “get it.”

What matters most to you?
Happiness, Love, compassion, my effect on other people. Because that’s really where it’s at.
