Daily Inspiration: Meet Tangla Hayes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tangla Hayes.

Hi Tangla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Entering the Unknown is a nonprofit organization that my mother and I started several years ago. We provide food, shelter, clothing and resource counseling to those in need. The concept of Entering the Unknown was birth out of heart ache and pain when my brother died tragically at the age of 15 in 1994. During that time my mom lost her mom, dad, and son all within a 9 month time frame. She was able to maintain her sanity and keep her full-time job while raising her three other children by Entering into the Unknown, The world of Jesus Christ. She even wrote a book with the same title to help process the hurt. As time went on and all the children are now grown, including me my mother was led to pick up where she left off helping those in need or people who are just hurting and going through somethings. She asked me to help relaunch Entering into the Unknown in 2018. We started with an online live motivational and encouraging bible study offering help to the lost and discouraged and offering food, shelter, clothing and resource counseling to those who needed it. In 2021 my husband, my dad, and my real estate broker all died from Covid within 30 days. Even my dog, HoneyMae died. I was hospitalized in the ICU at the same time my agent was in ICU too. I was able to be released and come home but she didn’t make it. I was planning my husband and father’s funeral at the same time from my own hospital bed. All of this happened during the last quarter of 2021. I wasn’t able to attend my father’s funeral I sat on the couch for a year trying to understand what had happened and where was everyone. The house seemed so empty with both my dad and husband gone. No more loud TV sports game. The house was so quiet now. It Didn’t seem like home any more. After the one year anniversary of their deaths in 2022, I realized I had to snap out of lala land and live. My family encouraged me to get out the house and go drive Uber. See the new sights of Nashville. Great idea. And I loved it. This was now the last quarter of 2022. Right after the Holiday season, January 2023, I get a call from my aunt Jackie with a family emergency from her ex husband side of the family. Her niece from that ex marriage needed help with her newborn baby. The baby was born exposed to drugs and she needed someone close to care for the baby while she got her self together instead of the baby being shipped off to another state or with complete strangers. My aunt assured me that the mother was on track getting things in order to get her baby returned to her. Well 9 months later, her comes baby number two. Bouncing baby boy. And yes, I agreed to help once again to keep the siblings together while the birth mother continues to work on getting herself together. And now in November 2024 comes baby number 3. Another baby boy. And I said yes again, leading with my heart to help these sweet little angels. So now I have Baby Girl from January 2023, baby boy from December 2023 and another baby boy born November 2024!!! I look back and wonder what was I thinking?? What have I gotten myself into?? Then I am reminded of Entering into the Unknown. To help those in need by Providing food, shelter, clothing, and resources counseling. As these children have Entered into a World of the Unknown, I am committed to seeing them through by loving and caring for them. I am officially a foster parent And I have had each of these babies since they were born. Sometimes, I laugh and say God has a funny since of humor, he took three and gave me three. My husband Ron must have told God I needed something to keep me busy, keep me going instead of sitting on the couch depressed. I believe I needed these kids just as much as they needed me. My dream is to one day have an ETU -Entering The Unknown Campus to house foster kids in a safe loving environment.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
