Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariel Jean.
Hi Ariel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
The Ariel Jean Band started with me (Ariel Jean) as a local songwriter in Sacramento California. My sisters Aubrey Anne and Amber Joy joined me shortly after starting the band in supporting me and my original music with backup vocals but over time became Lead singers too. We began playing more in the local scene in Sacramento and the more we played the more word got out about our performances & unique original music. We began selling out local clubs and opening for national acts.
Our original music started getting nominated for local awards along with music videos. Our fan base supported us throughout the growth of our music and helped fund a Nashville trip in 2020. Unfortunately, the Pandemic delayed this trip along with the growth of the original music as we couldn’t perform live to help fund our projects for a significant amount of time. Finally, in 2022, as things began opening back up in California, we were able to make our first trip to Nashville and perform at the World Famous Tootsies and Commodore Grill. We are releasing new music in 2023 and recording one of our songs in Nashville at a studio we haven’t announced yet, so stay tuned for that big announcement!
The Ariel Jean Band has opened for Major national acts in Sacramento such as Eli Young Band, The Cadillac Three, Kip Moore, Little Big Town, Eric Paslay, LoCash, and more! You can follow our band on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, I-tunes, Amazon Music, and more! We are planning to travel to Nashville to further our songwriting and performing career 4 times a year. Our parents of six children support our original music and come to as many shows as they can and came to our first trip to Nashville. We’ve written songs about them and our Dad is a songwriter as well and has joined us on stage at our performances many times.
My Dad, Tony Bosserman, taught me how to play guitar when I was 12 years old and encouraged me to write songs. Our mom plays piano and all of our siblings sing as well. My sisters and I have a special connection on stage and the experience is vibrant and our passion for the music shows. We will likely be 100 years old performing together still. The original music fires us up and keeps us busy and continuing on to any opportunity presented to us, we’re ready!
Our current band members are Ariel Jean, Amber Joy, Aubrey Anne, Andy Gomez (lead guitarist), John Gormley (base), and Louis Brazil (drummer).
Huge shout out and thank you to my Husband Joe for always believing and supporting my dream.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In life, there are always ups and downs but having family be part of your performance really lifts up your spirits through the good and tough times. The pandemic was definitely the biggest offset for our career so far as California was and still is affected by it. We just keep moving forward and pushing through.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The Ariel Jean Band is known for its unique original music in Sacramento. Many of our songs have a sense of humor to them which we notice the crowd responds positively to. We need to laugh more! I’ve written songs about my parents, and our song Beer and a Bible was specifically written for our Dad. Each original song has a story behind it.
I’m really proud of our music video “Coors Light Country Girl,” which won a California Music video award in San Fransisco for Best Country music video! It has over 100,000 views on Youtube and still climbing 5 years later. What sets us apart from others is the fact that we are sisters and have performed with our Dad. I think our family chemistry is noticeable on stage and our original music is unique and we have an impressive catalog.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
It’s interesting because I used to be scared of the stage as a child. I started writing songs at a really young age but I would be nervous in front of others while performing. That has definitely been a journey of continuously getting out of my comfort zone and pushing myself to perform at open mics and take guitar lessons. To this day I’m taking guitar lessons and always trying to learn more and be a better performer, musician, and songwriter.
Playing open mics and being completely in the spotlight and vulnerable to an audience is one of the best ways to grow and get out of your comfort zone no matter what stage in your career you’re at. A big way I overcame my fear of the stage was by going to open mics. My sisters Aubrey and Amber have always been more outgoing and shine on stage. They still put on a better show than I do and I look up to them a lot and continuously learn and grow from them.
Music and writing songs have always been my interest although in the last 5 years I’ve really chased that dream more and got out of my comfort zone completely with it, which has been an amazing journey.
