Daily Inspiration: Meet Troy Cicotte

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Troy Cicotte.

Troy Cicotte

Hi Troy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My generation is one of the first to grow up with media creators who are not actors or celebrities.

I’ve always loved watching content from people that I feel live normal lives because I can relate to them. As a kid, the idea of making a career out of filming the things I enjoy has always seemed super cool.

Consistency is key, seriously. It wasn’t until I focused on posting twice a day and just being myself that the ball finally started rolling.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes, I would say that has been a smooth road… so far. As a college student, I have been very blessed with content creation because it allows me to earn income even in the most stressful weeks of school.

I’d say the road is smooth because I never make my online presence bigger than my real life. I understand that I will grow up and graduate, and I will have to make a stable career with my degree. My content started because I found joy in the process and will continue because of the other people who enjoy it, too.

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Fashion, food, and basketball. Most of my content boils down to those three categories naturally because those are things that bring me joy in my life.

I am known for being versatile and, in the words of other people, “completing side missions.” I am someone who can take criticism, which is why I love taking suggestions from people who watch my videos.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I transferred to Vanderbilt University after a year of online classes at a community college in my hometown of Canton, Michigan.

I went from a totally solitary environment to the most communal situation I could imagine. Being here for the last eight months, I have learned that the people make the city. I very much feel the joy and respectfulness that the people radiate.

In my midwest hometown, the only two things you can do for fun are go bowling or go to the movies. I have probably done more things in this short time in Nashville than I have done my whole life at home.
