Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Gilbert.
Hi Tyler, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a touring singer/songwriter who has always made sure my tours always hit Nashville.
I have been coming to Nashville ever since 2010 starting out playing open mic nights and scheduling songwriting sessions and becoming friends with some great local talent such as The Daily Fare, The Rough and Tumble, and Zach Wolfe. Over the many years, those connections and promotions grew to perform shows at venues all across the city to name a few, Bluebird Cafe, Douglas Corner Cafe, Mad Donna’s, Two Old Hippies.
Also in surrounding areas include Natchez Hills Winery, The Fontanel Mansions in Whites Creek. My tours have gotten much bigger these days including multiple dates across the US and Canada.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth path, making connections can be tricky, especially for quieter people such as myself.
A big city that is bustling with music such as Nashville can at times not always be so welcoming being a new guy in town in a place with such plentiful competition, but compared to cities like LA and New York I have always found Nashville to be much more welcoming than most.
The music community is one of the strongest you will ever find anywhere, the depth and range of talent are astronomical and the city embraces this music scene like no other city I have ever encountered.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a professional recording artist and singer/songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist.
My music ranges in genres from folk to hard rock. My tours switch between solo acoustic singer/songwriter style tours to a 3 member hard rock group. I have released 4 albums and 2 EPs from 2008 – to the present. I am most proud of the diversity in my music, I’ve always tried to exemplify the diversity in my own influence from Pantera to Michael Jackson to CCR.
I’m proud that music and art don’t have to be limited by predetermined boundaries, and I am happy that my own discography showcases this.
What matters most to you? Why?
Music has always been my main focus in life and being able to continue doing what I love is what matters to me most. I love creating, writing music is starting from nothing and eventually releasing it as a physical thing, which has always astounded me.
I would say my favorite part of the entire music industry is writing and recording, to me it offer the most artistic freedom, I can do whatever I want to the song, and it is always an experimental and learning environment with one goal to create music that will last for years.
