Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyson Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyson Campbell.

Hi Tyson, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my photography journey after retiring from the Air Force in 2015. I’ve always had a love for photography and decided to get a degree in photography and ultimately start my business in 2017. I completed my degree in 2019. I moved to Nashville in 2020 and began to build my clientele from that point. Over the past couple years, I began to specialize in headshot photography although I am well versed in all genres of photography.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Over the years, there have been struggles along the way. Moving here to Nashville at the start of the pandemic was a definite challenge. In addition to learning the city, I had to get my name and business out there for folks to see. I also work full time so I also deal with scheduling conflicts at times but in most cases, I am able to make adjustments.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
While I shoot all genres of photography, I have shifted my focus to headshot photography, which has been very successful. Over the last few years, I was the headshot photographer at Mt Zion Baptist Church’s annual Business Connect Brunch, which has allowed me to capture headshots for hundreds of business leaders each year, which I’ve been very proud to be part of. I would say one of the things that sets me apart from other photographers is my lighting and bringing out my clients personality in each portrait. That has been the biggest compliment I’ve received from my clients.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
One quality that I feel has been important to my success, is my attention to detail and the fact that I strive to bring a level of excellence in my work. As a retired Air Force Veteran, excellence in all I do is a core value that has stuck with me over the years. I am also a people person and I believe in bringing a high level of customer service to all of my clients. I want to show the value of having quality portraits, which can enhance their business profile so those characteristics have really attributed to my success.
