Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendell Brown.
Hi Wendell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We originally started in Dickson, TN, and began a program focused on helping others find hope and help for their life.
The goal of Tragedy Into Triumph is found in realizing that every person has struggles, but how we overcome the struggles, and what we learn from the struggles, is completely dependent on us. There are difficult times in every person’s life. There are circumstances of pain, frustration, and confusion, but through faith in God and a belief in ourselves, anything is possible.
In May, we will host a Nationwide Simulcast at 510 Woodland St. in Nashville. The event will start on May 1st through May 3rd and will happen each night at 7 PM. Each night a new speaker will share their real-life story of transformation. The event is FREE for Nashville residents to attend and it is broadcast around the nation from right here in Nashville.
May 1 – Jonathan Cain (From Journey – who wrote Don’t Stop Believin and Open Arms, Faithfully, and many more) who overcame the loss.
May 2 – Montell Jordan (Singer who sang “This is How We Do It”) and his wife Kristin will talk about marriage and bankruptcy and infidelity and the healing that came their way.
May 3 – Brian “Head” Welch (From the band Korn) will share his real-life story of overcoming addiction.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not a smooth road at all. This event has changed locations, changed directions, and changed states. At the same time, we have learned so many lessons, and we have grown. We fight the same battles that most not-for-profits battle. (lack of funds) Most not-for-profits work to do more with less, and it seems that as the economy changes the less is growing at an increased rate. We have had a tremendous range of speakers and participants from Deion Sanders to this year in Nashville we have Montell Jordan and others. We are so grateful that our participants are passionate about their stories and the transformation in their lives.
We have had other speakers that were not as well known. The important thing for us is the stories. Hearing the stories of another’s purpose and their triumph encourages us that our tragedies can change. The human experiment on earth matters. Every human can learn, and every human can change because every human needs help. That help we believe is through faith and through the experience of others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in transformation. We provide hope for tragedy. A person can experience, pain, loss, sickness, betrayal, depression, anxiety, addiction and so much more. The defining moment for any person is when the realize that the past doesn’t have to define them. I have been helping people find hope, personally since 2009 when Tragedy Into Triumph began. Personally, I was an 82nd Airborne Division soldier and served during the first gulf war, I have coached basketball to two winning state titles in Ohio, and yet I have been robbed at gunpoint.
I have overcome addiction. I have seen my share of ups and downs, and now I get the privilege of helping others find triumph in their life. We host the Tragedy Into Triumph Podcast, and have provided motivational counsel and support to thousands and our Tragedy Into Triumph events have been simulcasted to over 500,000 people. We continue to provide coaching, help, and support to thousands of people that have struggled with tragedy. What sets us apart from others is that we are willing to take on the worst of the world because we believe that through faith there is always hope!
Additionally, I have just written a book called LIVING IN TRIUMPH. The book will be available in a special arrangement with our publisher for our event starting May 1 in Nashville at tragedyintotriumph.com/books (Link will be active by April 24) The book provides practical help and support so that people can find their way out of struggles and into triumph.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love the book Finding God by Larry Crabb and Love Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. I love listening to positive music.
