Daily Inspiration: Meet Whitney Bailey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Bailey.

Hi Whitney, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At the age of 4, my mother nicknamed me Buddha. Also, at 4 years of age is when I experienced my first childhood trauma which continued until I was in 8th grade.

The summer going into high school is when I began experimenting with drinking, smoking, boys… and girls and began getting in trouble with the law. Over the course of 3 years, I received over 10 underage drinking charges, a DUI, and got caught stealing.

I encountered a near-death experience when my friend hydroplaned her car on the highway while driving under the influence which left her car totaled. I was angry and felt like the world owed me something because of all I had been through.

Most people knew me as the girl who “gives no f**ks” I had no care for my life or others. Around 17, I had a shift in consciousness to where I started to care about life and desired more from it.

I received a scholarship to play basketball at Cincinnati state technical and community college, moved from my small hometown, and wrote a letter to my mother disclosing all the sexual trauma I held in for 14 years prior. I applied & enrolled in New View Modeling Management & Talent where I took modeling and acting courses which led to signing a modeling contract with New View in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A few years later, I moved to Atlanta, GA where I continued to model & act with different casting companies which landed me next to some big stars! Still healing from my childhood experiences I moved across the country to Los Angeles, California to find what my soul had been seeking. I discovered yoga, meditation, healthy eating, and isolation that led me to wholeness within.

With my newfound knowledge, I wanted to share this peace of mind with everyone I encountered. I became a certified Life Coach where I coached others through their healing journey to inner happiness. After doing that for a few years I’m now at a place of wholeness where I’ll share my story through creativity and words.

I’m currently modeling/acting with New View Modeling & Talent while simultaneously running a skincare business called Just Raw Cosmetics.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road but it’s been a beautiful journey that has ultimately brought me joy along the paved road to success. I have driven 8+ hours for auditions just to get a “no”, I have worked for free and to gain experience. I was homeless and sleeping on a friend’s couch after being evicted.

I was fired from multiple jobs for reasons I still can’t make sense of other than God removing me from places I no longer belonged. I’ve been betrayed by friends, lovers, and family. I’ve been ignored and overlooked for many years due to God preserving me and developing my character.

I’ve been robbed twice of all my books/notebooks (which are my most valuable possessions) I had a girl steal my purse at a circus and the police officer let her walk away with my identification. My tax return has been stolen twice due to fraudulent activity, I’m still waiting for the second one to be returned to me.

I was arrested and booked into jail for 2 days over a $17 parking ticket while living in Atlanta. There has been plenty of manipulation and emotional abuse from hurt souls who needed a place to put their hurt and still I rise! Like Jermaine Cole says “I got a dollar and a dream” and I’ll never stop chasing it (attracting it).

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a high fashion model who inspires the world through my grace and love for humanity.

I lead by example through the right action. I guide others back home to themselves by being a clean mirror to reflect one’s true nature back to them. I am known for sharing my journey of self-discovery through my words, acting, modeling, and creating.

I am most proud of my ability to adapt to any situation. I am a shape shifter who can play any role. What sets me apart from others is my connection to God and my drive to learn through real-life experiences.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I owe my life to Spirit. I am here (alive) because God came to me at four years of age to save me after my first sexual abuse. Secondly, my mother kept me, and I would have fully understood with her situation why she could have chosen a different path. But she kept me and loved me to the best of her ability.

My brothers, with my mom, have supported my sporting activities, helping fix broken-down cars, paying for me to have cell phones, etc. Mia-Obie my best friend of 10+ years saw the real me when no one else could and helped me get into modeling school.

I have countless friends, lovers, associates, ex-coworkers, and strangers who have poured into me/my dreams and whose presence alone affected the course of my life while helping me shift into the best version of myself. I am so grateful for each of those encounters.
