Daily Inspiration: Meet Wynn Varble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wynn Varble.

Hi Wynn, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I came to love country music at a very young age when I discovered some of my dad’s classic country vinyl records. When I was probably 13 or 14, a neighbor of mine started showing me some chords on the guitar. Before long I was playing on my own and writing my own songs.

For many years, I worked odd jobs during the day and played music at honky tonks at night. In 1992, I decided to move to Nashville to pursue my music career. My first publishing deal was with Reba’s company, Starstruck. My first radio single was “Fit to Be Tied Down” by Sammy Kershaw. Since then, I’ve had three number one songs and I’ve been fortunate enough to have many of my songs recorded by various artists like Brad Paisley, Garth Brooks, Willie Nelson, Jon Pardi, Cody Johnson, and others. I write nearly every day and perform around the country with many of my peers.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but nothing worth having ever comes easy.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a country music singer/songwriter. I write songs for other artists to record, but I also perform many of my songs myself around the country. I try not to take myself too seriously and have fun when I’m performing.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think pursuing music as a career is a risk in itself. I have been blessed in my career but there’s no guarantee that it will be like that for everyone. I think taking a risk in any business can be worth it if you feel in your gut that what you’re doing is right.
